Parts Contour price?

I've been informed of a 98+ v6 atx contour near me that timing chain broke and need new valves/heads or whatnot and is for sale for what I think is pretty cheap. Everything else is supposed to be in good condition with it. Now I have a couple different options, I could fix it and resell it (probably not going to do this), buy it and just resell it for a slightly higher but fair price on here, or buy it-get parts I need and other parts to sell/give away on here and let a junkyard buy what's left. My question is, what would be a good price for a car like this? Any ideas on what a junkyard pays for a junk car? Thanks for the input.

i dont have any real idea of how much to offer for it, but as a reference, here in socal a 'late' model v6 contour can be bought running for a little as 1900 depending on condition and where you look...

i would offer no more than that, probably not even that much since its dead

Of course it's not near that much......... I will say it's under $300. I think for the price I'd be paying, the cost savings (not having to buy these parts somewhere else) of the few parts I need plus junkyard money will pay for it. But I want to make sure because I don't have a lot of money right now and don't want to spend anything that doesn't have a decent return.
And it may be better if I don't part it and just sell it to someone on here. If it's as been described to me, I would sell it for not a whole lot more than what I pay and someone could have a good daily driver after fixing it.

Under $300 definetly
Most junk yards won't even pay you anymore if they have to come and pick it up. We had an offer of $150 picked up from a JY.

you can scrap it for about $300...at least around here

scrap prices are high right now

I'm probably going to get it then. I'll post pictures on here and see if anyone just wants to buy it, if not then I'll sell any parts anyone needs (right now, I just need the windshield, tail light socket, and maybe window parts) and then junk it.
Ya'll reckon a 95 v6 explorer can pull it (on trailer) ok? It's about 30-40 miles from here and it'd be cheaper if I can pull it with my girl's explorer, otherwise I gotta pay somebody gas money to pull it with their early 90s suburban with I think a 454 in it.

isn't too far...I wouldn't think it'd be a problem for the explorer (if it's in decent shape). G/L getting the windshield out w/o breaking it, even the pros have problems w/ them.

scrapyard $ > junkyard $

Thanks everyone for the input. Yeah I'm not sure if I'll do the windshield or not. I'd like to as it would save me a lot of money but I've had a little experience trying to remove a windshield before that didn't go so well. Maybe if I get a professional tool to do it. If I can do it and the installation that'd be awesome.
In any case, I'm going to pick it up. At the very least, after transportation cost, I'd make $20-$80 off of it just reselling it to a yard. I just wanted to make sure there is no possible (within reason) way I'd lose money off of this, and after making some calls today I verified that.
