P0605

Dang, had my tech going over my car, replacing bits and pieces. One of the issues I've had was intermittent no-starts, where it would crank and crank and crank but seemed like it was getting no spark. Then usually a minute later it would start and run just fine. Well, now it won't start for him and he's getting P0605. Internal ROM error. I searched but didn't find much on this. I'm pretty bummed.

What are the options going forward? If I have my xcal 2 can I reload my tune one whatever the new/refurbed PCM ends up being? I'm feeling a bit gloomy about this one.

Reading that this code can sometimes be triggered by using an aftermarket programmer. Seems like if that's what caused it, the PCM could just be re flashed. But would that also mean it would be a bad idea to reload my tune?

To be honest I am not sure, have not come across this one before. Did you return the PCM to stock? if so does everything work ok?

No, but we're going to try reloading the stock tune on there from my xcal 2 to see if it will come to life.
