OK, we didn't kill the entire car..... trailer project

Now that I think about it Joe, another would be to cut the car in 1/3's and use the front and rear. You'd have the trunk and engine bay to fill with stuff. The blending of the body panels would get interesting but you'd have alot of space. Tongue weight would be horrible though.....nevermind make it a tandem!

HAHA , you guys are crazier than I am!

Limo might happen one day, but I need to work on one project at a time. I am getting burnt out ..... Thanks for the suggestions and I like the cooler idea :ponder:.

Thats what I was thinking. Make it look like those micro machine photo shops everyone does of real cars. I'd just put the tire in the middle though and panel over the wheel wells.

you should have made the trailer out of the front end of the other contour...
that would have caused some massive confusion on the highway...
people would think there was a contour driving backwards down the street.

Why not use the front end of a contour to replace the back half of the contour he cut up. Of course, remove the steering from the BACK front half, then open up the headlights and put some truck tails and reflectors in them :D

Oh yeah, remove the engine too, gotta have trunk space.

As long as you tint the windows REALLY dark, noone will know what to think when they see it.

I couldn't resist pulling it today again to make sure it was 100%. Man it rides smooooooth!

It is only tipp'n because the Impala is higher up than the Contour is.... It will be pretty close to level once it is on the contour. If not, I can change the ride height of the car and the trailer to make it level :D.

It's not for everyone. I still think it looks ugly the way it is. The whole point of this is to have it match the car pulling it to get the full effect. We will see then if it looks and "jives" like I hoped it will. Another reason why no one would ever try to build one and never has, you just don't know what the final result would be.

I will try to load it evenly when it comes time. I will be watching carefully all the time because it could be dangerous.....

is there enough room for a tongue box or cooler rack? might look a little better on that end.

what will you be doing w/ the exhaust cut-outs in the bumper?

my suggestion: pseudo exhaust & rig up some flame-throwers or confetti cannons or t-shirt shooters or ping pong ball guns or...

How do you even get something like that registered? Depending on your state requirements, DMV might give you some trouble.

Normally there is a form you fill out stating it is a homemade trailer. You state where you got parts etc, give it a value, state the gross weight of it fully loaded, and pay tax on it....done

Homemade trailer, at least that's how ours was registered one time, granted, it wasn't the back end of a car, but still same theory applies. I would assume they would register just like they do when someone cuts the box end of a truck and converts it to a trailer.

Never ever ever ever reverse with that thing unless its straight back, I bet you'd bend the tongue in a quick second.

I can't wait to see it painted...it would match my car, too.
