Oil Pan Gasket Replacement on 3.0L

My oil pan is leaking oil and then Mechanic said its the oil pan gasket. Didn't ask him how much or what it entails to do myself so I come to you CEG'ers! The oil pan looks like its the one of the 2.5 motor? I just bought the car and Bagged did the engine 2 years ago. Just wondering how hard it is to replace and if I would get the gasket from the 2.5 or the 3.0?
 
depends on the amount of rust on the bolts. If there is not rust might take you 2-2.5 hours... if there is rust weeks or months even.
 
there is no difference in how the oil pan of the 2.5L or the 3L is removed. The y-pipe will need to be removed and the pan dropped.

Now what might be different is the oil/pan gasket.

If the stock 2.5L oil pan was used then the gasket can be replaced.

If a newer escape oil pan was used, looks like the 2.5L pan, then the gasket is built into the oil pan and I don't believe its replaceable without replaceing the whole pan. So I would check that all the bolts are tight first.

If a 3L oil pan was used I am not sure what you are going to find there. It might be like the newer escape oil pan, I don't recall at the moment.

I thought I took a pic of the stock SVT pan also when I did my swap, but I guess not. Hope that helps

Ford has a gasket for the Taurus pan, which looks almost identical to the Escape pan so I don't see why the Escape pan gasket couldn't be replaced also. There is a Ford part number listed in the how-to in my link.
 
Just got done doing mine 2 months ago. I used the gasket you just posted ^^^ You'll also need a high temp gasket maker to dab on where the timing cover meets the block. If I had all the parts I needed and didn't have to wait for the store, I could swap mine out out in like 45 minutes.
 
did you use it on top of the oem black gasket? are the blue things supposed to sit in the grooves or on top of it?
