oil light flicker

i didn't know that your government had declared slick 50 as snake oil. I only refered to it 'cos i thought it was more widely known. I'd like to read that and see if molyslip is mentioned . i wasn't aware that even slick 50 caused any damage at all...

Its not a matter of causing damage with Slick 50 rather its the fact that they couldnt prove it did what it claimed. They went after ZMax in much the same way after enough people complained that they had been ripped off.

Friggin' no joke. Head on over to bobistheoilguy. No slick 50 or any other additive will enter my engines.

Oh I love the folks over there that strive to disprove the stuff. The only think I've put in an engine was a can of the Restore which did get my compression back up to spec in my old Cadillac.

I wont say a bad thing about adding moly to an engine. A lot of people over on BITOG praise the Street Legal Oil Boost that was discontinued (I think thats it) because its loaded with zinc and moly.

Okay, so far I'm still breathing. I've got 50 miles in since the dreaded oil light ficker. No ticks or lights but I feel like I'm walking on death row. Not that I know what that feels like but... I'm sure now that I've posted this, it will happen on the way home today from work. I guess the only thing to do is just continue driving it and deal with whatever happens when it happens. Anybody have a complete low mile 2.5 or 3.0 that I would be able to drop in without having to do anything to?

MolySlip has been around for decades - and it DOES give the engine a fighting chance. Molebynum Disulphide is an excellent Extreme Pressure lubricant. Not good for the cat if the engine burns oil though. Or the O2 sensors.

Comes in a little green bottle.

I had a healthy car with just over 100k. I figured, since the slick 50 says it "restores" engines, I would give it a try. Well, let's just say, instant oil light and you can imagine what happened after that. I was young and stupid. It will never happen again.

dodged a bullet

dodged a bullet

Thought I'd update this to just share one experience where that dreaded oil light flicker did not spell instant doom.
It's been about 5k miles since this happened and I'm still running strong. I use it as a daily and the light has not come back on at all.
I still wonder if my engine's long term life expectancy has been compromised, but at this point it seems like I dodged a bullet.

have you ever checked to see if the pressure swith was or is still causing this especially with a swap? we swap motors from cars to cars where i work and we come across the strangest things sometimes...
example how many others do you know who have done the swap with the motor your using? and i mean from the same model and year... because believe me there is alot of differences with motors from model to model and year to year....

a 2.4l cavy motor and a grand am motor are completely diff yet same 2.4l they are impossible to swap, well not impossible but too much hassle

and a 2.4l from a 95 is way diff then a 97 found that out yesterday had to change everything...

just an observers opinion
