HIROSHIMA, Japan—Mazda Motor Corporation has confirmed that the sedan version of the all-new Mazda3 (known as Mazda Axela in Japan), fully redesigned for the first time in 5 years, will be revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show*1 on November 19, 2008.

The covers will be pulled off during Mazda’s press conference from 12:20 to 12:45 (local time) revealing the all-new Mazda3, the latest evolution of Mazda’s Zoom-Zoom spirit.

Every element of the all-new Mazda3 has been developed for heightened exhilaration, with a more refined sporty ride, top class fuel economy and quietness. Environmental and safety features, based on Mazda’s long-term “Sustainable Zoom-Zoom” vision, aim to achieve a balance with fun-to-drive. Add in a new expressive face and Mazda’s dynamic design elements, and the all-new Mazda3 is everything a driver could ask for in a sports compact.

The brand new version of Mazda’s best-selling sports compact carries forward the heritage of Mazda and the pedigree of the current Mazda3. Since its launch in 2003, the current Mazda3 has sold approx. 1.8 million vehicles*2 in over 100 countries and has won more than 90 global motoring awards*3 to date. The Mazda3 accounts for almost one in three Mazdas sold every year.
Following the world debut of the North American specification sedan with 2.0- and 2.5-liter engines at the show, the five-door hatchback version will be revealed in line with Mazda’s global sales schedule.

damn that is sweet, hope to see a mazdaspeed 3 here pretty soon, I know of 2 people who would be buying one in a heartbeat.

I hope Mazda can come back with a mazdaspeed that tops the cobalt ss now that they have some time to work on it.

wow thats hot, I want the new mazda 6 though:drool: with the lexus style exhaust tips integrated into the rear bumper.

Would like to see a bit more power from it but I think it's a step in the right direction.

Has as much power as the 5 cyl VW engine. The Vw engine has about 8 mor tq though. I'm sure this is more economical as well. This is putting out as much HP as the standard Duratec did in 1996.

ok so is that the v6 duratec 2.5 or a 5 cylinder? if 2.5 then id buy one and a 3L would be in its future. hello reborn contour!

isnt that dynamic design Fords new deal in Europe? they have something like that for all their new cars and they are supposed to bring it to the states with 6 of their Ford Europe vehicles starting with the fiesta.

So in over 10 years they cant manage to get any more power out of the same displacement... Sad.

Exactly. Not saying it's way off in the HP department but I think it could use a bit more. It seems to me that with today's technology you can easily squeeze more power from these motors and still keep them fuel efficient. Here's two examples... The Accord has 190 hp from their 2.4L and the Civic Si is at 197 from a 2.0L. Both get around 20mpg in the city and around 30mpg on the hwy.

Of course you can, but the engine will be more complicated and will probably require premium fuel. The average person buying a 4 cylinder econo car doesnt want to and probably wont put premium in the car anyway.

Comparing a v6 to a i4 is kinda apples to oranges. Or maybe apples to flavored apple sauce since its kinda the same?

Neither. Its a worked version of their 2.3 liter 4 cylinder.

As far as I know, the Accord that I mentioned does not require premium fuel. There are quite a few vehicles with higher HP & good fuel economy that do not require premium fuel.
