Not too Happy about it but....

First question: Do you own any guns?
Second question: Do you own a cleaning kit for said guns?

Step One: Invite said father to be over for a quick "chat"
Step Two: Clean said gun while said father to be is sitting at the table
Step Three: Make sure barrel of gun is pointed towards father to be while making important points of his responsibilities.
Step Four: Remind him that you can afford a better lawyer than he can, so you will be getting money from him and he will be around to raise the child

For some reason, I always thought you were like 18 yourself....go figure.

Starjammir stop being a liberal browneye licker.

NO state aid! keep her in school! make the father go to school during the day and work all night!

Pud, I'm suprised that you being a Mod would resort to name calling. I would appreciate it if you would refrain from that now.

Just cause I act like a kid doesn't mean I is one. Go figure!

Namecalling is an EGL thing that he happened to let spill out into this thread (damn regional trolls! :P ) I doubt starjammir took offense.

One thing you're going to wan to keep in mind is just how hard it was for your daughter to tell you this. Also, she'll have to go through the social punishment as well. This is an EXTREMELY tough situation for her, so FWIW, I'd try to go easy on her. Screaming at her and telling her that her life is ruined because she is stupid would not help at all.

Still being her age, i'd say that she needs you to be supportive now more than she ever has or ever will.

because some of us work hard for what we have and think that other should also

as a last resort sure.

I am sure there are better things taxes can be used for first then just giving it to people that are lazy and don't want to work for what they want.

i work about 50-55hrs a week for what i have... a little extra money always helps

Some random thoughts...

Some random thoughts...

My parents were absolutely supportive to me when i told them they were going to be grandparents(when I has JUST turned 20), my Mom more than my Dad. the WORST thing you can do is kick this kids a** or do anything to make him feel unwelcome....in the end, he's still the child's father...whether or not he wants to make the effort to be a DAD (there IS a big difference) is what's important. All I know is that the Court system treated me like some sort of dirtbag UNTIL I was granted custody of Colin....and that was BECAUSE I wanted to stay involved in Colin's life. This kid is going to have a long road ahead of him, and it would be in your grandchilds interest for you to facilitate him being there.

Or, if you prescribe to some of what I've read in this Thread -"Keep your friends close and your enemies closer".....Whichever you prefer. Feel free to PM/email me, I might be able to give you some insight to this situation from the young mans point of view...

I know someone who is going through the same thing right now although she is a little older. My friend ended up getting pregnant from her ex. Anyway he wants nothing to do with the kid and told her to get an abortion. She refused. Needless to say she is having the kid. I told her to go after the guy for what ever she could. On the other hand my other friend is having a baby with his Girlfriend. Hes 17 shes 20 but they are working through it. Shes due any day now and has the support of both familys behind them. The only thing you can do is support them. Yea you may be really ticked at the father but being ticked off and yelling at him isnt going to help. Its just going to make it harder on everyone. My suggestion is go out to dinner. Sit down and talk about it with both of them and work something out. Even if your daugher doesnt stay with him it would be good to stay friends. If you take everything one step at a time then im sure it will go smoothly. Of course Hes going to need to get a job and it sounds like your daughter is allready on the right track. Sit down and talk to them both and make it so that there comfortable talking to you. Im 20 and i can only imagine what it would be like to be going through this. I hope i helped even just a little bit.

As a man, I must say that statements like this are disheartening.

It takes 2 to tango and if the father wants to give up rights to the child he should be able to do so. It's then her decision as to if she can raise the child by herself or if she should give up the baby for adoption.

Although I'm OK with the father being responsible for 1/2 of the pregnancy costs regardless.

It's like you need to make people sign a contract before you start dating them now with details on how an accidental pregnancy will be handled by both parties. Lame.

This is the biggest reason people talk about safe sex or no sex before marriage. It's not just a religious issue. It's good advice for any person.
Although nowadays, no one even thinks ahead enough before jumping into marriage either. :(
People that don't consider the consequences of any of their actions dishearten me.

What sucks...

What sucks...

Is that, ever since I gained custody of Colin, his Mom has been MINIMALLY involved with anything that's going on with him....In fact, she fought me for quite awhile so that she wouldn't have to pay ME any child Support, which is ironic, considering I was going broke not too long ago paying her Support. At this point, I told her to keep her 18.50$/week (which is the MAX I could get from her- she doesn't work), what I wanted was my son, and I got that.....she can have her money. I just wished she was more involved with Colin than with her other kids...
