Look, I can't stand Kwame. It kills me to see the City Income Tax taken out of my check every 2 weeks when I know how much he pisses away. I haven't seen a single person here backing him or disagreeing on the fact that he needs to go and there are neighborhoods that need to be cleaned up. That's flat-out common sense.



I go downtown every single day and I've NEVER had thoughts of dying. And guess what? Pick a large city in Detroit (Flint, Saginaw, GR, Lansing, Benton Harbor, Muskegon) and I guarantee you find some areas that will make you sh*t your pants. Guys aren't hanging out on the steps of JLA or Cobo or the DIA waiting to steal your wallet or shoot you for your shoes. And Biff and Muffy from Bloomfield Hills aren't jumping in the 7-Series for a quiet dinner in Brightmoor. Anywhere the suburbanites are going for their entertainment, whether it be a sporting event or casino, is safe.

You *should* look at other cities in this state when you start talking about the issues in Detroit, 'cause Detroit isn't alone. Sure, it's the largest city (and highest profile), and that's why the unemployment and poverty are going to be magnified there. We got away from talking about Kwame when the talk of the lazy residents and selling the city for scrap came up.

How many times was all those cities you mentioned in the top 5 most dangerous cities to live in USA?? Seriously we are speaking statistics here.
Detroit listed for the top 5 dangerous cities. what is it now 26 times. I'll start worrying about those major cities you mentioned once they get an average of 38 killings a month due to murder.

More people die in Detroit then our solders do in Iraq monthly. (god rest their souls)

It's got major issues!!! The existing residents have not done anything to curb the violence. Everyone was screaming for Iraqi's to help themselves to turn there country around. Yet Detroit has had how many years to do this. Yet they are still in the same spot they have been even though our government is still funding there lazy asses.

Only people moving forward are the 100,000+ people that have left Detroit in the past 5 years. And the additional 100,000 that will be moving out of Detroit in the next coming years. I wish them the best. The only people who will be left behind, will be the true hearted Detroit's/old people and all the criminals.


I really want to know how many current residents of detroit have a felony on their record? If i had to guess it would be around 40-50%

From trailer parks to projects, people need to stand tall and have enough pride to get work and provide adequately for their families.

With the exception of the KKK and a few other radical groups, more often than not the people who make the accusation are much more likely to be guilty of the crime than the accused.

The FBI should indite the POS and do an investigation of the cuncil and it's employees. I bet they fire and/or convct 50% of the people down there, easily.

Any time I have had to go to City Hall in Detroit (because I live in Wayne County) I set aside 3x the time I would expect to normally consume at any other governement facility as I always end up standing in line at a counter listening to the lazy slobs behind the counter gossip about non work related while myself and other wait for them to take their sweet ass time to serve us.

i hope there comes a day when the feds care enough........i'm sorry, when the people care enough to coerce the feds into a legitimate investigation!!
regarding some of those city workers, i've experienced what you have and worse.:nonono:
it really makes it hard to defnd them.....there is no defense!!!
i love detroit and hope that one day i and many others can eventually have a positive impact that makes a notable difference.

i was offended in the the things i read on this thread so i responded in recognition, not accusation.
i don't think a city of people should be grouped and labeled in such deragatory terms esp. when we all know that the majority of the city is minority. me, well i'm italian, black and dominican so it would be stupid for me to be a racist person, however, i do recognize when some comments insinuate this and i feel it's my duty to share my thoughts.
i hope that through all of this that we all can walk away a little more aware and determined to make our household......block....city and state better for all of our children to flourish.
we all have a common ground here........contours.....hopefully that will maybe be a foundation of tolerance and respect.
