Although I like running the Dragon, obviously, next year needs to be better from a couple standpoints. Number one, its gotta be longer, like in the past, so for next year we're either coming down the same day as usual, Thursday or possibly Wednesday. Either one is going to give us more than enough time to do everything, like the "other roads" that Trey has spoken about as well as a trip to Gatlinburg to check out the Dukes of Hazard museum. I checked that out back in 03' when I came down the first time and really liked it...alot! This would give us something addition to do and can even take the Dragon to get there, a win/win! Another thing is additional and earlier planning, although we planned for this monthes in advance, its never too early. I'm thinking right after SZ08' is over I'll get up a poll (and this time vote for the correct day) and we can get the ball going. Because of the amount of police we saw last weekend, Sunday in particular, IMO the best time to go down there is the 1st or 2nd weekend of October, what do you guys think:shrug: I'd like to get as much input from everyone about next years running of the Dragon. In closing I expect a couple more first timers out for next year, mainly from around here, but I'd really like to know what happened to the people that voted for the particular weekend we ran it and never showed or posted about it. I'm not mad or anything, just curious:shrug:

One thing that I'm going to really try and do it get Terry Haines to come on down there. I email him from time to time and with all of his hard work over the past couple years I'm sure he could use a vacation, one that he'd really appreciate:cool:

sweet hopefully ill have more time to hang out i was the guy with black e0
i dont think anyone knows me
but the dragon was sweet highway 28 was sweet also
we will see what happens i may have my 3l by next year....

I disagree. The cops are going to be out there on the weekends no matter if its September, October or February with snow on the ground. We had several deaths in the spring and early summer, and the cops are there for good. -At least on the weekends. Brad ran the dragon on a random Wednesday in August at like 9 AM and he said he didn't see a single officer. If you're wanting to do the dragon then that's the way I suggest it = middle of the week and *early*. Otherwise, we locals need to put our heads together and come up with new roads to do. I would like to concentrate on roads that take us through scenery for pictures. So for 2008 it might be the "official 2008 mountain run!" instead of the dragon run. A lot more roads, more driving time, better pictures, beautiful scenery and without the worry of cops! Next year how about we all pitch in and get a chalet in Gatlinburg. The road from Gatlinburg to Cherokee NC is fun... then we can go to the casino in the afternoon and drive back.

Of course I'll be there, Roger. I haven't been sick in years, so it was a little out of the ordinary for me to be all tore up like I was. Flu sucks. :(

I'm sorry to "rain on your parade" Kristy but they come down here every year to pound the hell out of their cars lol not so much for scenery. Hwy 28 is a sweet ass road it is a medium between the dragons curves and the skyway. The dragon is a must do/have deal here. Thecops that weekend were nothing like the weekend before I can attest to that completely. They always leave for the most part by 5 or so in the evening and arent there early. 28 is scenic to a point but not totally secluded as the dragon and the skyway are. The chalet is a good idea but it is a little far to do what is usually wanting to be done here as in running the dragon. Planning in advance is going to be key here so we can either all get cabins for sure this yr or whatever. Roger feel free to keep in touch with me as often as you would like and I'll look into anything you want me to for you. I want next yr to blow the past out of the water![/end of book] lol

Agree with Roger since this is what we had been talking about before/after this year's Dragon Run.

Well trey then why dont you and me do scout out more roads there are plenty i know of that are curvy as hell and alot longer. These are loops and we can run them for time *hint hint* http://www.booger-hill.com/routes.htm lets actually have some place that will challenge us not just sawing the wheel back and forth running in first and second gear...

Well the plan was to run 28 but we never got a chance to do so this year. next year we definitely should though.

I like Kristies idea for sure, there's time to do it all. Next year is going to be the 6th consecutive year for me, so I don't mind mixing it up, but I AM GOING TO RUN IT AT NIGHT TIME, NO MATTER WHAT!!!

Eric, sorry that you had the flu, didn't mean to come off sounding bad:shrug:

Keep up the ideas guys:idea:

well I guess I should get to doing some research then!

Look into it for sure Trey, hell, even drive the area and take some notes for us. With proper planning we'll have our best time yet. Its only a matter of time before we get more and more people coming down for this. Maybe we should start the planning stages for this at the beginning of next year:shrug: One things for sure though, if we do start planning it that early, we need it stickied!

well I guess I should get to doing some research then!

One weekend when you decide to do some of this "research", give me a call a little in advanced & I'll ride up & spend a Saturday w/ you scouting roads. I've been up through blue ridge on the very tail of the tail of the dragon but I'd like to get in deeper.

You just let me know when you can be free and we will go from there!
