there is nothing special about the car in or out of it, but, its the best car i ever had. and still driving:cool:

Glad you're happy with your Mondeo, hopefully you have a good experience with it. It's refreshing to hear someone with a fairly standard model that's pleased with the car, especially after hearing SVTC owners call their own cars turds. The European press and motoring community gave the Mondeo rave reviews when it was introduced.

Hi Sebastiaan , good to have you in the club..
Where in the Netherlands do you live..?. I get to fly to Amsterdam a lot.

I wonder if a 1.6 zetec manual is faster then a 2.0 zetec auto.

I think this is the only MK1 Mondy owner on our site. I'm probably wrong though.

Thats a big negatory. The 1.6 Zetec was rated at 90 BHP. the 2.0L was closer to 130. Really thats a similar comparison to the 2.0L Zetec 5 speed vs. a 2.5L Duratec auto.

Anywho, welcome to CEG. You guys were way better off in the mondeo world, for some odd reason, back in those days fords were better built over the pond than over in America, god knows why its an American car to begin with.

Do you have data to back up the 'better built' claim? Or any data that shows Contours as poorly built relative to the rest of its class?

Personally, I'd call the Contour/Mondeo more German than American. There aren't very many american designed platforms in the Ford and GM line-ups these days.

Isn't the Zetec stick 0-60 damn close to the Duratecs autoboxs' time?

EDIT Yup I was right

MTX Zetec: 8.8 to 60, 16.8 in the quarter
ATX Duratec: 8.7 to 60, 16.7 in the quarter.

So I imagine thecase would be the same for the 1.6 stick and the auto 2.0
