New tie rod ends have a narrower taper

You're kidding about the not greasing thing right? No way would I EVER believe that line about "pregreased".

Thats a long slippery (pun intended) slope of not trusting parts that I really dont wanna go down. If Moog (an industry leader) is gonna sell a part that says pregreased/dont add grease when really they were just lazy then we should just rebuild all of our own parts so we know they were done correctly. And we might as well grow our own vegatables in the backyard and hunt our own animals so we know they were harvested correctly.

you might be better off in todays economy :laugh:

Carry that same logic out a bit further, you are now a prime candidate for an ARM mortgage, you know, like the ones that have just destroyed our economy??? They will tell you that you don't need to read the contract, they've already taken care of it. I can think of maybe 5 million persons who wish they had read contract closer. Most of those "name brand" parts you get are now made in third world countries, you think they care whether your stuff breaks or not? You should do a study on the country of origin printed on those boxes. I have seen $200 ballbearings from take your pick of maker be BONE DRY of lube, also front end parts (Moog, Federal Mogul, TRW!). The Moog said prelubed on the stupid little label but the zerk wasn't in, nor hole even tapped yet. You could see in hole that it was DRY. Front end parts I've seen that are lubed have very little in them, push some grease in one and see how much of theirs comes out. Their grease almost always a different color so you can easily see how much was in there, generally part never full. Grease costs money just like the time to do it. I rebuilt 4 units of a 5 unit printing press I used to run. Last one I was on 2 week vacation, did not see last unit rebuild take place. Other pressman (30+ years) put it together, no grease in Fafnir main bearings because he thought "they already did it" and 2 hours into unit runup it was destroyed because no grease in new bearing. Bearing locked and took out 3 major cyinders and some big gears in damage, total over $50 grand. One of the other new bearings was dry too, it was about to go out. 2 out of 8, the other 6 were greased from factory. I could tell you a very similar story relayed by my brother (night supervisor at Excelon Mountain Creek generating plant) that after a sequenced chain of events cost $10 million dollars in damage, but you get the idea. Ultimately they are NOT responsible for what YOU do with their part after you buy it. In a court case you would bear a certain amount of responsibility for not checking the lube before you used the part. All warranties are on proviso that part is "properly installed" by someone trained to do it. That means you are smart enough to check that. That's not meant to be an insult of course. More like a response to our lawsuit happy society.

Why would they lube it through the zerk fitting when they could lubricate the part during assembly and put it together. If they use the fitting then people would surely complain about getting used parts and they'd get needless returns. The zerk is there so the end user can lubricate later without pulling it totally apart. As far as parts failing goes, that happens occasionally regardless of over/under lubricating before it left the plant. You're an over-luber and I'm an under-luber I guess so we can leave it at that.

i was thinking about the food.

Meh. I can hunt but I'd have to take the animal somewhere for processing which kinda defeats the whole purpose. And as far as gardening goes I couldnt even keep a fern alive so I'd be bad at that too.

That explains the lower dividends!!!!!

[/QUOTE]I didn't realize Excelon covered Texas? I use own stock in another utility TXU Texas Utilties (pwr and communications) recommended back in 98 when I went to school with guy in the telephone side. Did really well then a merger or something like that and it went private. I sure missed the great returns.
I yes maintenance, management always cuts the budget for maintenance since it does make money!!!!! Yeah but when it breaks - ah those lazy maintenance people!!!!!IDIOTS!!!!

Haha. My dad works for TXU (now Luminant) and he was mad at first that the stock went private but then they had to buy out everyone's shares at a higher price so he was happier then.
