my IP is warped now to the point of a nuisance. 2000 SVT tan IP. Is there a good salvage yard or place locally that can do the instrument panel swap? I'd like to do this soon. Thanks in advance.

OH! Dash warp.

I thought you were talking about Internet Provider.

There is a fix kit avalible through ford. Also, depending upon your interior color, some people just go to the junk yard and pick up a pre98 Defroster vent cover (the 99+ didnt have it), cut out the warped piece of dash, and use a couple of metal tapping screws to secure the new pre98 Dash piece.

Also, since you have a tan interior, you probably could get a tan dash from a 98 contour and just swap that out, however a dash swap isnt the easiest thing ever accomplished. The 98 contour had a slightly different dash setup which didnt allow for the defrost vent to warp like crazy, however the little bit above the gauge cluster still will warp a little bit, but it doesnt really look bad by any means.

Yeah, Instrument panel is what we in the biz call it, but I'll call it a dash panel. so now I have questions: I most likely have to remove the windshield to get at the dash from above to cut out the warp, or would I attempt to remove the dash? Is there a part number at the dealer I need?

I would like to do as little as possible to get this back up and functional so I'm open to looking for a good shop who has done this before too. Novi area or I'll drive and drop it off if necessary.

dash warp

dash warp

looks like both the dash panel and the dash panel fix-it kit are discontinued. I'm back to retrofitting and/or finding someone who can do it.

so for a 98 dash panel to the 00 dash panel--is this pretty easy to swap?

Send a PM to neverdone, he's got a car he's parting out locally that has a tan dash. He's down in Garden City.

btw, when i approved your account for posting, I noticed you used your CDS to sign up . . . there are a few current and former Ford folks lurking around here still . . .

glue it back down. it works pretty well

When a dash is extremely warped its a lot more difficult to just glue it back down, this only really works in the early stages... If thats the case, get some wood blocks and cut them to fit, between the dash and windshield, to secure it down over night.
