Need counts for Brewery tour / Country Cruise

Make it happen... I want to cruise and then finish off at Lakefront.

I'd say we should plan to be done with the cruise 1/2 hour before the lakefront tour.

Just as a note, there are no E85 gas stations along the cruise route. I'm probably the only one that this may effect but since it's only 120 miles or so I think I should manage.

Haha! I said that very thing when Mike and I checked out the Hotel. There is one dip on the cruise that I have a note to warn everyone about. All in all, you should not be worried.

Works for me! I'll change the brewhause time to noon, and the cruise will end at lakefront around 2:30. I will be leaving the maps as is, and those that wish to skip lakefront can follow it home, otehrs can follow me.

see so now I'm wondering if I even want to do the tours or do cruise. Without Sprecher, the brew tours are a bit less appealing. It almost seems like less of a full day. The cruise route seems like the more hearty schedule, and if Lakefront can be squeezed in, then it still satisfies the tour-curious people.

argh dammit I r confuseded.

Put yourself on both lists, I'd rather reserve space for too many people than not enough. We can talk it out thursday and decide then for sure what everyone would like to do. I just need rough numbers.

As a note, Miller and Lakefront offer two very different types of tour. Miller is a great example of history and mass production methods with some Milwaukee background thrown in, rather straight laced. While Lakefront is a prime example of people for whom beer isn't a job, it's a passion. It's a great display of character and small(er) scale production where fun is still the no. 1 goal. Not profit.

Yeah that'd be my only regret for missing out on Miller - the history and such.
(plus I'd like to see how it compares to a Budweiser tour hehe)

I also threw up the option of using the first leg of the cruise route....backwards, to get to show and shine. So there's still a back-road option for you Saturday morning...

This.

Also, Pole and I are in agreement that the Sprecher tour is not really worth the time. Our last local brewery tour meet made this clear. The staff is rude, the guides are deadpan (reading from a memorized script) and you are rushed through your samples. I've heard more than one person who has said that Randy Sprecher is a giant DB, and it's reflected in the tour. IMO, Lakefront is the only tour really worth doing in Milwaukee.

If you really want to have fun on Friday, I would strongly recommend going on the cruise and hitting the Lakefront 3:00 tour.

agreed, the tour guide was a total TOOL, we had more fun making fun of the tour than we did actually paying attention. I think ill be in for the cruise and lakefront, mainly because I havent been there yet

Agree, the Sprecher tour is the worst and now recently they have tried to copy what they do at Lake Front Brewery. The sprecher guides are horrible, rude, reading off cards, etc... and honestly I only go there for the soda samples. Lake Front is #1 by far and Miller is very good for the history and they are very cool people that work there. The beer garden is fun to hang out in on a nice summer day. They have a lot of old stuff to look at and is very informative.

The minivan-clan has decided to switch teams. :p

LOL you guys can"t make up your mind. Might have to try to get out for the country cruise on the bike. Some of those roads are ho hum. The kettle Moraine area has some fun roads, don't plan on hammering them though. Usually get stuck behind slow ass driving shlubs.

You're face is ho hum! The entire time on the route on a saturday we only got stuck behind one car. A friday afternoon should prove no problemo.

I'll take a PP in my car for the cruise :P
We'll fight for the company. A few people can come in the rocket wagon instead of the lame-o van, but husbands have to sit in the back ;)
