I guess put it in to be safe. Rara recommends it because it smooths out the air flow so the mass air meter can read the air better.

I had some idling issues so i had to install me.

I plan on disconnecting the battery to clear the computer before I install this intake and will not be putting the screen in place. Like others have said, if there are idle issues put it back. Otherwise I like the least restriction possible.

My car had a loopy idle without it on mine... Your results may very... Try it without and if you have no issues leave it out. If you have issues, put it back in.

Because the SVT has a conical filter. The non-SVT panel filters, supposedly, straighten out the air enough to not need a screen. Now, I thought you didn't need a screen as long as there is >=6" of pipe before the MAF.... so with a CAI you *shouldn't* need the screen.

ok, thats what i was wondering. thanks guys. i guess i'll try to drive it a while with it out and see what happens.

and bimini, taking out the battery is a very good idea. actually im not sure if theres any possible way to do it with the battery in. what i did was take out the battery/ box/ tray, and then dissconect the fusebox/ computer/ relay box whatever you want to call it, because you have to have that out of the way to get to the torx screw holding in the stock snorkel. and it makes it a lot easier to cut away the fender with all of that stuff out of the way..
