Hey all, I'm pretty new to the whole Contour/ Mystique thing. Can some one please fill me in on the different trim levels and how those models are equiped? I just bought a 97 Mystique and there is no model markings at all, is this just a base model? If so its equiped fairly well for a low line car.

Thanks
Rod

On the GS I think engine options were 4 cyl or 6 cyl. On the LS I believe the v6 was standard.

I think premium sound was only available on the LS model as well but i'm not 100% sure on that one.

It is extremely common, but at least one year had it as an option.
Brapple's '95 LS is a Zetec MTX.

lol .... we even talked about that yesterday .... anyway, I am not sure if the V6 was standard in the LS or not, I would think that it would be but alas my only has a zetec

so I have every option except

leather
sunroof
premium sound
duratec V6
atx

pretty sure I have everything else

At least in the 1998 and 1999 brochures, for which I have on the Mystique, all LS models were V6 and all GS models were 4 cylinder. The brochures also make reference to a base, non-GS or LS, but no mention is made of what options the "base" model had.

In 1999 on the LS, the ONLY options were the ATX, CD player, spoiler, antilock braking, traction control, and moonroof. Leather upholstery was standard, but there was a "no cost" option for cloth upholstery. My moonroof was indicated as a "no cost" option.

I've seen a v6 5-speed Mystique. Been tring to find another one since and have had no luck. Was it a swap or was a 5-speed V6 an option?

5 speed was the standard transmission on all engine options on the Mystique. ATX's were optional on all models. Most Mercury buyers want a more upscale car than Ford buyers, so you'll see mostly ATX's in the Mystiques.

I recently bought a 99 Mystique LS with a 5 speed. It also had the CD player and still has the spoiler. It has 98K miles and seems to have been serviced at the dealer from which it was purchased every 3K. I like it.

Nope no leather and no moonroof, dunno if there is anything else I'm missing to. I dont think mine has either GS os LS mouldings on it.

Does it have the lighted entry which includes the lighted lock cylinder, door handle switch that turns on the interior lights, and under door lights. Then there is the light package that has the trunk light, under hood light and door handle pocket lights..... How about fold down rear seat, and driverside glove box? and you do have the rear dome light and grab handles too....
