My boost build thread

a whole mtx wiring harness if it works.

spent the day in the garage today getting things installed. only have small nitpicky stuff left like vacuum lines, mounting the power distribution box, wheel bearings, and that coolant line that i had to modify. think i got a CAI figured out as well, just need to make the hole bigger.

i think that since i have the egr blocked off i might get a vacuum block and tap the egr block plate and pull vacuum from there instead of having a bunch of hoses running all over
 
making progress. got the vacuum lines hooked up, coolant crossover pipe modified and installed, oil return line installed, remote filter mounted, drivers side wheel assembly installed. waiting on a new wheel bearing for the passengers side, should get it tomorrow.

need to install the oil cooler, mount the MAF, hook up the boost guage, put fluids in it, and gas it up
 
svttour has a 80mm maf for sale, but there is no sensor on it. will the stock sensor work on there with a tune, or would i need the sensor for the bigger maf for it to work?

wheel bearing showed up yesterday, so that side is going together tonight
 
I am pretty sure any sensor will work you just need to get it tuned to accommodate the larger air flow. I am not positive on that though cus I have never done one but I remember reading about it somewhere.

ideally you would want the proper sensor for the tube but since its going to be tuned it shouldnt make much difference.

Jaged, if you would prefer i have a 90mm lightning MAF with adapter for sale. its listed in on of my FS threads around here and NECO somewhere.

yeah, you will deffinitely want the larger MAF. whether its the 80 or 90mm, both are easily tuned for. If you decide you want the 90mm i can meet you in Indy again, this time with the 3L SVT, or ship it
 
i have a pro flo now, it should work, but i think it made tuning a bit tricky, and it is a lot longer than stock

Almost done...... Looking good. How much power are you expecting to put to the wheels with this setup?
 
im not sure honestly. before i was making 200hp/200ftlbs on a dyno that ran low for numbers. i want to have brenspeed tune it so im sure their dyno will read different.
 
ummmm yeah, first time to fire it up didnt go so well. turn key, first rotation didnt fire, thats normal. second key turn, ping ting ping, F***.

i think the belt that i had on there was there was WAY too tight. it was at the end of the travel of the tensioner. luckily i bought a second ac delete tensioner for my other car. and had another tensioner. just need to go get another, longer belt. fml

and of course no autozone in a 50 mile radius has the next belt bigger. so i ordered it from amazon for $20 cheaper
 
I hope my A/C delete pulley doesn't implode on me when I start mine in a few weeks.
 
you should be fine, my belt was stupid tight

hopefully next time itll have some numbers on it. picked up a bunch of wire fittings today. while im waiting on the belt to come in, i think im going to rewire the gauges to make them a lot cleaner under the dash
 
i hate to be mr negative, but your engine bay kinda makes me wanna puke. reminds me of my engine bay before i cleaned everything up. your getting in too big a hurry! (i do the same thing)
 
Is that oil filter bolted down like that or is it just hanging for now?
