I'm looking for some new people to ride with since my friends are all fat and lame, and figured I ask you guys. Who wants to go on a ride some weekend soon? I'm about an intermediate rider, so it won't get too intense. I'm just looking for a good, relaxing ride. So, anyone who mountain bikes, sign up here, and we'll set a date.

Kim you are NOT fat. Now, me on the other hand...

I have a rather lame mountain bike sitting in my garage that I have BARELY even used. If I have the time, I MIGHT be able to make something, but I've never really been MTBing before

I race XC MTB in the Root 66 Race Series. This weekend we will be up at Pat's Peak in Henniker, NH for a race. If I'm not on a race weekend, I typically ride on Sundays somewhere in CT/Southern MA. Send me a PM anyone who wants to ride and I might be available.

Just say on this thread when you can go. I'd like to get as big of a gruop as possible. This way, there will be more t-shirts available to make turnicates:laugh:

For anyone interested: The last XC race in CT is tomorrow at the Channel 3 Kids camp in Andover. It should be a good time in the crazy heat!

Well I won't be joining you guys! :p

My friend recently wrote an email detailing the weight he's lost in the past 6 months and I became inspired to start doing physical activity again. Baby steps: I'm going for 30-60 minute walks after work and decided to start biking. By request, my parents dug my old mountain bike out of the shed and brought it up when they visited last weekend. The last time I rode it was in 9th grade, 1999.

I took it out for the first time this evening. It felt wonderful! I'd forgotten how awesome biking is ... till I hit the first hill 3 blocks away. My legs cramped up a bit so I just circled Derryfield Park and came home; 1 mile ride total.

Could barely get myself up the stairs, and I left the bike on the front porch (in Manchester :nonono: ). I spent the next 45 minutes with a racing heart, drinking water, and sweating copiously - soaking my shirt completely. To top it off, the McDonald's I had for lunch came back up. :( Thankfully that was the climax of the recovery period; I've stopped sweating and feel much better now. Hopefully my legs will work when I have to drive to work tomorrow, lol.

So. Take it from me .... don't stop exercising when you get to college!
I used to do 17+ mile bikerides with my dad when I was in junior high!

lol guess you'll be cutting back on the fast food before exercising too huh? ;)

I'd say all the time. so glad I make a lunch to bring to work everyday.

don't forget simple things like what you are eating and how much you eat. as an example my mother lost 30 or so pounds in about 3 months on weight watchers. basically she just changed her diet and portion size. does help that she can cook too  .... I eat so well when I visit ...

as far as dieting, I'm doing much better than before.
I'm only eating out once a day.

The McD's wasn't too bad, two snack wraps and soda for lunch, with two apple pies as snack at 3pm. Better than it could be. ;) But I haven't had evening takeout in more than a month, for which I am proud. Dinner last night, after biking, was canned beef stew and salad.

looking forward to seeing you guys at a meet soon, but I won't be attending a bike meet till I can do at least a mile without problems. :D

I need to replace the brakes pads on my bike before I go anywhere. They squeal hardcore!

As far as dieting goes. LOL YEAH RIGHT!
