Due to a corporate restructuring and stuff, several groups in my company are being transferred out of Boston, to Merrimack NH.
The date is either Aug 15 or Sept 31, HR hasn't decided .. which is angering a lot of people who haven't yet put their homes on the market. (We were first notified last week and the Aug 15 date came up in a presentation yesterday.)

I'm ecstatic ... cannot wait to leave Boston. :) I'm fairly set to move into NH due to cost of living and atmosphere, rather than going to northern MA. Plus I have lots of family in Manchester.

For those who live in the Merrimack area, any advice on good towns to look at, or even have experience in various housing units? I've already received some advice and am going to head up a few times to check things out personally. I would love a 1br townhouse/rowhouse if I can find a decent one in my budget. Otherwise looking at apartment complexes and maybe house apts. My lease here expires Aug 31 so I'm taking the time to research NH thoroughly.

Pepperell is where I live, about 15min away from Nashua and Merrimack. Some towns around to consider are obv. Manchester, Hudson, Bedford (expensive), Amherst and Nashua.

YAY matty will me closer to us!

Good luck with the move, Matt! Glad you got to experience downtown Boston working and Davis Square living for a while. ;) It's certainly an experience everyone should have once in their lives.

thanks ... Davis Square on warm nights can be pretty awesome to be sure, and the T can be convenient especially when you're out with friends. But the road-rage honking and beggars are driving me nuts, and I definitely need more personal space than this area offers. I'm glad I've had the experience and now know my way around at least the squares of Boston, but I'm a rural kid at heart :)

I'm excited! :)
Have you grabbed any of those free apartment listings from NH grocery stores yet?

I didn't realize you had a lot of family up here. You probably told me, but I suck like that. :o

I may not have mentioned it. I don't get to see that side of the family often (long story).

And actually, I haven't been up there yet to grab the magazines. My cousin, his wife and child were selling kettle corn at the Londonderry fair last weekend and I intended to go up, but I got tied up doing things at home. So either tonight or Sunday.

Been doing a lot of research though. apartmentratings.com is a godsend .. I keep coming across the perfect complexes only to find out they never have hot water and the free heat is set below 60. I did find one that is a little more expensive (still cheaper than Boston!) but has nothing but good reviews, going to check that one out soon too.

Bowers Landing in Merrimack is the closest and most favorable so far, though expensive. I have an uncompiled list of others but I'm late for work, will go further at 6pm.

Ditto! :)

NH is very nice, and it was on my short list of places to settle after my training in Boston ends. I just couldn't handle the cold and snow anymore (most of my hobbies are non-winter ones) so I elected to head to the Pacific Northwest.
