MNB Interior In a Very Dark Green SE Sport?

I just got done de-tinting them. As you know, tint is illegal in NY.

ummm..nope. read the dmv website again. dark tint is illegal on the side windows,but as long as you have side view mirrors on both sides you can paint the back window for all the state cares.

yes there is 2 count them 2 different shades of tan in the tan interiors but if you had a light tan dash it would look horrible and you would not be able to see with the glare. on the other side if it were dark tan then it would look like poop that is why i want this in my car...

even the front two can be tinted,but pretty light tint. as far as getting away w/it it depends on the vehicle. the svt had illegal tint and i never had a issue w/it,the 95 i have now is illegal too,no issues. but the last pgt i had was another story.

personally i've always been a fan of the black/tan look in the probe gt's. black dash,black center console and tan seats and door panels.

I've heard that the NY law is so restrictive that basically anything darker than Saran wrap will put you over the edge and that some older vehicles with no tint will fail the test due a slight yellowing.

I had my car in NY a full week before I was pulled over due to my tint.

you heard wrong. i've had one tint ticket in 13 years of having cars w/tinted windows in NY.
and that was a ford ranger w/double tinted windows.

i've never even heard of a window tint test..unless your talking about the one on the side of the road were they take your liscense and hold it flat w/the window,if they can read the letters/numbers your fine,they also have a u/v indicator that measures the amount of light that passes through it. but those arent tests done for state inspections.
tom window tint in ny is not illegal unless its on your front window..my father-in law is a retired oneonta police officer,5 years nypd and is currently a inspector for the state of ny,i have three "friends" in the oneonta trooper barracks and one is a deputy for otsego county,i'll ask him tonight at basketball what his take is on the law.

Window tint in NY cannot be any lower than 70% on the front and rear sides. Basically no tint will pass. Rear window can be any %.

I'm pretty sure window tint in NY is illegall on your front windshield and your front door windows. ANywhere else is OK.

The cop that pulled me over had a device to test the amount of light that passed through my front driver's side door window. He told me that I failed and told me that he wouldn't ticket me that time but that I needed to take care of it.

I did.

I think it was a Chenango County Sheriff's Officer. Could als have been NYS Police.

Keep in mind this includes factory window tint. No window is perfectly clear.
When I took my SVT for inspection last year in NH I failed for tint (among other things). It had 35% on front windows and 20% on rears -- the station's tint meter measured ~31% and 17% light transmittance.

The funny thing is, in 20 years we're going to laugh so hard at the 'hideous' orange leather interiors available in upscale vehicles like you just posted, just as we do today about the red/green/blue interiors from 20 years ago.

Hey there, bud, let's not get carried away! :laugh: No one over here is laughing at red interiors. Just wishing I had one, actually. Maybe a nice 1984 Mustang GT with T-tops and Oxford White paint. And I was sitting in my navy blue T-Car interior just this morning.

you can have tint on the front windshield just has to be above the mark about a 1/4 of the way down.. i was stopped in ny with the illegal tints on my car and nothing was said.. the g/f has black windows on her truck and nothing has been said.. its all in not being a dumba$$ if you dont look all ghetto'd out there not going to bother with you. now if you car looks like crap they will go after you.....

confirmed,no tint on the front window,no colors and no mirror tint,but you can have tint on your other windows. if you have both sideview mirrors,you can take your rear window and paint black if you want.
