Mexican made CDW-27s?

Try not to confuse the platforms and the programs, even if they share the same name.
CDW27 does refer to the global platform on which the Mondeo, Contour, Mystique and Cougar were based, but it also refers to one of those cars specifically as a program as well, though I forget if that was the Mondeo or Contour.

It might be easier to understand on the Fusion platform, because its a different name. The Fusion platform has been called CD3, where as individual programs are CD338, etc.
The platform name is pretty much always derived from the first program it was developed for.

And the "W" designation refers to a global platform, ie that it is used in several markets rather than just one. Cougar got the "W" also because it was sold in both Europe and North America. The Lincoln LS platform was also a "W" platform because of its use on the Jag S-type, and the platform (and the LS program name) was called "DEW98" being between a D and E size car . . .

Confused yet? ;)
