I PASSED INSPECTION! Mwahaha I so totally passed! It was an adventure though. Aircougar did an EXCELLENT job welding up the SVT exhaust on Sunday, and he so kindly replaced my upstream O2 sensor as it had been throwing codes. I was driving around a few nights ago, and the CEL came back on. Different code! It was 0141 for my DOWNSTREAM O2 sensor circuit malfunction. Uhoh. I inspected the sensor and it appears that one of the wires was getting frayed and probably had shorted out or something. I tried taping it up to protect it, but to no avail. CEL came back on last night, and I quick drove it to Aircougar's and he put ANOTHER O2 sensor in. He cleared the codes LAST NIGHT and I went in for inspection this morning. I made sure to cover all RPM ranges and all speed ranges up to 65:)ponder:) mph. Brought it in this morning, and the first thing the inspection lady said was, in a taunting manner, "Iiiiit's kinda louuuuuuud!" Uhoh. But a mechanic came in and I tried explaining to him it was a stock (kinda) SVT exhaust. Gave me a bit of hassle, but he took a peek and said, "Is that the V6 hot-rod Contour you're talking about, STV (yes he said STV) or something?" But long story short, I PASSED!

I was ready for that fight the first time I took my contour in for emissions after I put the SVT exhaust on the car ... but luckly it didn't matter and it wasn't a problem.

All you should have said was that it was stock and told them to look at it ...

i had an inspector complain about my SVTs exhaust before.
he kept telling me that i need paperwork from the manufacturer of the exhaust stating it is 50 state legal.
so i asked him how i would go about getting that from ford.

ive never had an issue at all...and ive got 5 inch tips now, and still no problems...guess i should go knock on some wood, however my car did shoot a spark plug out of the cylinder today  went back in though, really weird

BWAHAHAH! The way you presented that was just hilarous :D

But yeah, the guy didn't really believe me when I told him it was a "stock" SVT exhaust (except for lacking the resonator...). He definitely didn't know what he was looking at, but he said, "Yeah, those look like pretty stock mufflers," and he told the lady to let me on my way. It's funny how they checked that but almost NOTHING else on the car. I didn't see her do seat belts, only checked ONE tire for tread, didn't check brake lights, and some more that I can't think of. Whatever. All that matters if I have the inspection sticker, and don't need to do emissions for TWO YEARS. PHEW. I'll be out of school by then with a good job

So where is this inspection place that doesn't actually inspect? The e-brake on my truck doesn't hold and I don't want to get another one.

I go to a place on the north shore that checks the directionals from the inside of the car, if that gives you any idea of how thorough they are. But they're friendly, and they didn't hurt the car getting in or out of it, or putting it up on the dyno.

By the way, that was interesting -- a 1993 Lincoln T-Car on the emissions dyno. That's about as close to a dynomometer as she'll get.

The SVT is due this month. Time to 3M foam tape my front plate on. Cars originally from North Carolina don't have holes in the bumper, and I ain't drilling. :)

I couldn't really tell what she was doing inside the car, but from what it looked like, I don't even know if she checked THAT.

By the way, I'm sending you a PM

I'm going for state inspector here in RI, but I won't be able to inspect my own car :( The place I work for is the same place that made me take off my fart can

I think it's time to hand off the Official NECEG Whipping Boy status to Zorrex.

At least I failed because my car is actually unsafe to drive, rather than ghey emissions standards. :p They tore into my car, even checking the brake pads. The side skirts barely cleared the lift, I cringed when I saw them driving it up.

All of that is a telltale sign that you need a new inspection station. Read: one that's more relaxed with the rules.

eh, I'm a sheep anyway. I get extremely stressed out when in trouble for any reason, or even when knowingly breaking the law, no matter how stupid it is. So failing the inspection now prevents me getting a tint ticket later (or an accident from bad tires).

I second that .... and he has been already, the other weekend at aircougar

beware the big bad zetec :help:

actually it sounds pretty good with the SVT exhaust on it ...

Aww crap. What the heck. I'm not even the youngest one here I don't think. I think I'm just the youngest "most active" member, if that makes sense.

And at least you're giving me a LITTLE credit now, Brian. :)

Well ,at least you have a car that runs!

Well this is true. But then again, I don't have a Mystaque, hehe . J/k j/k. But my car has yet to quit on me at all. Never stalled out while driving or bad battery or alternator or anything like that. I even drove it 50 miles with running just air in the brake lines (don't ask). It's a tank that takes my beating :D
