So... as this is a turbo setup, using exhaust gases (as turbos work, no?), not only is he bringing additional heat into the cabin, but noxious fumes as well. Any small leak in the piping, and he'll be dead the first winter morning he tries to drive the car.

This has NOTHING to do with form vs. function. If you're THAT limited in a budget, save more!
