hey everyone, I needed to flush my cooling system so I began loosening the lower radiator hose. In trying to pull the rubber hose from the metal line, I broke a hole  in the metal. The metal was extremely rusted out, but I'm still an idiot as this is typical of anytime I try to do something on my own.

My ? is whether it is a time consuming repair to change this line, or if maybe I am just best taking it around the corner to the shop. If anyone has heard of this before or has input let me know please. Thanks!

what engine? sounds like a V6? if so the metal water cross over tube is about $40 or so new from ford and isn't to hard to change. dropping the radiator makes it easier to get to and that isn't to bad either.

I may not have given enough info here:
It's a 98 Zetec and I was trying to separte the hose from the line near the passenger side, more towards the back of the engine bay. maybe this helps?

it will help someone answer the question. I am not fimilar enough with the zetec to be able to answer off the top of my head, I would have to go look at my zetec ....

Ok.....so i got the part off and went over to AutoZone to find out that its called a "bypass tube" or something. Calling the dealership to get a price quote, might just go to the junkyard and see if i can get anything there. We'll see...

are you talking about the tube that goes from the thermostat housing across in front of the exhaust manifold and into the lower radiator hose? or are you talking about the tube that goes from the lower radiator hose, under the oil pan and then back up to the heater core? either way, the price shouldnt be too bad. if it is, get the full part number and talk to Bill Jenkins at Team Ford Parts. his phone number is floating around here somewhere.
