Just a quick comment about shipping to Canada

A kind member agreed to send me a $15 part

First Fed-ex was used...package was held at customs because they didn't believe the price listed
On top of that -their automated system kept telling me it was on the way..when they wouldn't
let it thru border unless i could provide a receipt..i refused package.

Next UPS sent the package...when it arrived..UPS wanted $40 brokerage fees for the $15 part
that was on top or original price and shipping...$40 to bring it across....i sent it back.

So..I think the member thru the package in the garbage...i don't blame him...UPS never told him they were going to ding me...
So for approx $50...I got nothing..the other Member..a great guy...got a huge headache

Meanwhile Sam the SVT warehouse man..has sent two packages to me...WITH NO EXTRA FEES by using the United States Postal Service...

Canada Doug

i ship all of my parts USPS, its way more convenient and usually cheaper as well. their tracking of priority packages sucks, but thats not a huge deal. i only had one incident with sending parts to Canadia, and that was that up there in the Canidian post office it got left in the corner, or never got delivered. the guy i was sending it to had to go and pick it up

USPS all the way - as long as the value is under $1600 - I think it may have increased to $2500 recently. If over their limit you have to do the customs clearance yourself which is a huge PIA.

USPS is great for out of country shipping, flat rate boxing really heavy stuff, or shipping items lighter than 7#. They have no automatic insurance, you have to ask for it and pay for all of it.

UPS is best for anything over 10# and for big packages. Anything is automatically insured for up to $100, you pay coverage over that.

Found this out the hard way, sent a brand new POD to a member, only to have USPS break it. Didn't insure it as I assumed it would be covered under 100.00. My bad!
