I searched and searched but couldn't find what I'm looking for. I recently purchased a sunroof motor from a member here, and I was wondering if there was a "how-to" for swapping it out.

I've been reading up and it seems the tabs on the motor cover are very brittle so I wanted to get some advice on how to remove that without breaking it.

Thanks for any help that you guys can give me.

its pretty simple ... remove motor cover. remove three torx bolts and swap the motor. you might want to sync it up. I believe you can do this by venting the sunroof. then you want to run the motor to the vent possition before installing it.

In the Duratec How-to Forum, stickied at the top is the How-to archives.
Log into the ftp page and go to Electrical. Within the instructions for the lighted moonroof switch, you'll see some instructions on how to remove.
Hope that helps.

I have a few pictures here.
The motor is held on by three Torx bolts. Pretty easy to remove.

agreed, its simple. i changed the sunroof motor in my protege which is located in the back. that was a PITA. the contour is much easier to do. good luck with it!

Thanks for the help man. My sunroof still vents but just makes grinding noises when you try to open it. It will also grind if I hold the button to long when venting the sunroof.

The motor should he here tomorrow and I'll go at it. Vent first, take old motor out, advance new motor to vent position, install new motor, enjoy sunroof.

you shouldn't have a problem installing a new/better one. they are simple to replace, again. you shouldn't have a problem with it at all.
