I ordered my engine through the Portland shop because that was the closest one according to their website. Apparently there not only is one in renton (which my engine got delivered to) but one in my own back yard in sumner. Go figure!

Anyone going to attempt a 3l should go through them. They are much better and cheaper than anyone else in the area.

Update: the one in sumner is closed.

I got a 2003 with 25k for $450. Yes I'm doing it myself and will probably take about 2 months to complete (just in my spare time and with spare money (if that even exists)). I am also doing headers and a quaife at the same time.

That's the way to go. When you do the 3L do you need to also change the ECM? Is it a straight swap, or are you creating a hybrid version?

I gotta admit it has been a while since I did an engine swap. I traded a 400 ci out for a 454 in my 79 GMC 1Ton 4x4, and changed out a slant 6 for a 318 in my wife's 77 Volare. Both of those were a bit of a challenge since they required mounts and frame changes. It all worked out ok I still have the GMC and rebuilt it once. Now 230k later it is ready for another rebuild. This time it will be my Marine doing it. He really likes that o'l truck.

You can run the stock svt tune, but your performance and gas mileage will suffer. I'm going with a tune from nautilus. I'm using my svt intakes and cams with the 3l block and heads.
