I will be putting the valve covers, side engine cover and oil pan on my 98 SVT this week. For the areas that require liquid gasket maker, is it ok to use Permatex Ultra Black Gasket Maker? What do you usually use for this? Just making sure I use the right stuff.

Thanks

I read their specs. It should work fine for what your using it for.

What's your ET for finishing this project up?

Do you have another suggestion on what I should be using?

Well, I just re-assembled the heads yesterday morning, then later in the evening we put the heads back onto the block, installed the headers, new water pump, water pump belt tensioner, new thermostat and installed housing. Also did a few other things so yesterday had some good progress.

I am waiting for the engine assembly lube to come in, that should hopefully be here tomorrow. Once I get that in I should have the cams, cam caps, chains, guides, tensioners, side cover, valve covers and oil pan back together that day.

I am going outside in a few to start cleaning the side cover, replace the gaskets in that cover, remove the front bumper and headlights (to mount oil filter mount and to wet sand headlights) and start cleaning the LIM.

After the LIM I will start cleaning the UIM and throttle body. I think I will be sending the injectors out to be flow tested and cleaned. I am also debating on if I should just optimize the throttle body or not at this time.

I am having an oil separator made that will vent the PCV and both valve covers. That way I won't have to worry about the dirty intakes anymore. I just got the weld-on fittings and tubes for the filters on Thursday. Gave them to my moms boyfriend who is welding the box up for me. He said he already has the main parts cut and bent just waiting for the weld-ons so he could drill the holes, weld them on and then finish weld the box together. So I am not sure when it will be complete but he said it will be done asap. That will be going under my battery.

The rear brake cables have been replaced but I still have to reinstall the new rotors and new brake pads.

After all that is complete, I will be removing my front seats and installing seat heaters. After that I will finally be able to take the car out for a spin. Can't wait.

I'm thinking EVERYTHING should be complete within a few weeks, no later than end of February.
