I've got a new battery, clean terminals, tight belt, and everything esle looks OK but my lights dim slightly when idling. Is there something ELSE I can check?

I would also recommend that you check / clean all engine and body grounding points. This includes removing the bolt, cleaning the bolt and hole, cleaning grounding grommet then re-assembly. Use brake or electical cleaner due to fast drying and no residue.

Will do Dan, thanks. And YES I love being in Alaska Tony:laugh:  The military brought me up here in 91 and I've never left!!

No matter what you do, your lights are still going to dim slightly when your car is at idle over how it will appear at higher rpms. Your alternator will not have as high of an output at an idle as it does at higher RPMs. Any vehicle you get in will be the same. I have an optima red top, new alternator, new serpentine belt, new wire and terminals because I wanted heavier than OEM. Yet the same thing happens on my car. Its 100% normal in any car. There is no way to get rid of it without wasting a hell of a lot of money on a really temporary fix.
