Here could be something different for you Guys over there, for sale on ebay.co.uk is a LHD ST200 ltd edition, it is a lot of money but it would sure stand out from all the other cars in the States dont you think.

This car would stand out more in UK and is more rare there being LHD.
I would rather have a RHD ST200 if I'm going to the trouble of importing a car here. Price would be a lot less I'm sure also.

Here is ebay link

FYI for those that have never tried. It is really strange to shift a RHD car. The driving part and being on the "wrong" side of the road came to me very quickly and no problem. But shifting with my left hand felt so un-natural and ackward. Pulling 3rd & 5th gears towards you instead of pushing away from you felt weird. Took me like a month to get used to it.

among other things..

bumper heights, 5mph crash bumpers, standards on crumple zones, etc, etc, etc.. depending on the car make and model there could be a thousand things you didn't meet..

Pretty much. The government says you need to make a vehicle meet all US safety standards if you want to drive it on the roads here. Technically its possible if you have the money, but it would take a lot.

Blyme, they sure are fussy over there, the emissions side of things should not be a problem as the ST200 is exactly the same spec as the SVT, I can understand lights and number plates, but does all the other stuff still apply to an older used car?

IIRC it also needs to be on the federal DOT list of "approved" import vehicles. The Mondeo is not on the list. Have fun making the request with DOT.

This is why American car enthusiasts always gripe about the crap vehicles we get here .... we have no alternatives!

I just looked at the ebay pics of both cars :drool::drool::drool: anyway many cars are sent here in subassembly's and sold as (kit) cars some that come to mind are the noble /gt40 / ?

There are exceptions to the rule.
Somebody in Orlando has a Mondy.
He bought it while he was stationed in Germany I believe.
