Alright I need an air filter and I'm probably going to go with a K&N. I know most people go with the RU-3530 that has a base of 5.375 or something like that. Does anyone know if a 6" base would work? I am using an intake that has a 4" pipe so I am going with a different filter. The other diminson of the filter are length 9" and top diameter of 4.75". If anyone has any idea let me know.

I guess you could, I don't see what difference its going to make. Your MAF and TB are still restictions and can only allow so much airflow. You could have a Filter on thats the size of a battery, but it will still only flow that same amount of air that a RU-3530 will

I realize that. My question was will the 6" base fit or will it hit something. I'm feeling rather lazy as of late and don't feel like making a template to check diminsions. I was wondering if anyone was running a 6" or larger based filter and how it fit.

But your basically saying that the RU-3530 allows more than enough flow already? There is one that has the same diminsions as the RU-3530 with a 4" flange but I can get this larger one for about $15 less. I just figured if it would fit I'd try it. It's K&N part #RE-0870.
