Well i sold my beat down Csvt and decided not to spend another dime on it disappointment after disappointment,so i dumped it for dirt cheap just to get it out of my sight......Should i find another Csvt or go for Thunderbird Super coupe my 2 fav cars....my next toy will either be a T-red/midnight blue CSVT Hopefully bone stock and not beat on or i want a Thunderbird super coupe 94-95 style.
I Know its a contour forum but what would you guys do if you just had a nightmare Csvt? Hope and pray a nice Csvt will show up for cheap in great condition ??(fat chance around here most are riced and abused) or would you just get something with 300ft lb of tq like the Thunderbird super coupe ive owned a 91 supercharged and its a pretty tuff car and very ballsy and im kinda wanting another but i also want a T-red csvt but most that pop up around here have big problems. So im just confused as to what i want to do,found a 90 thunderbird super coupe with 140,000 miles and the guy wants 1750.00 but i really want a 94-95 if i do get a FI bird  Contour svt or Thunderbird super coupe :confused: Choices in life lol

I've had both and I wouldn't take anything for my CSVT. Best thing is pay alittle more for a nice car that hasn't been abused. No problems with mine since I bought it over a year ago. It's completely stock besides the aftermarket wheels that are on it now.

Yea csvts are def. one of my top 2 ultimate fav cars, if i found a clean affordable Csvt any color besides black,id get it but i highly doubt there will be one for sale here most are teen driven and beat to sh** here. But thunderbird supercharded birds are more well taken care of and adult driven from what ive seen......But i will see how lucky i get with a Csvt with zero to little problems i just want to buy and drive zero to little if possible but what ever comes my way first 95 supercharged bird or csvt they are both fun and my 2 fav cars 3rd fav car is 99 infiniti g20 but dont know if i want a import since i already got my daily driver accord lol

My SVT was a nightmare also. Never left me stranded but thats only because I am a car guy and knew how to diagnose issues before they became bad. If my wife drove it she probably would have divorced me over it being such a pain in the arse. It was a great looking (exterior) and decent handling car. But it was such a money pit that I was glad to see go. The thing that pissed me off the most was that the issues were due to underengineering of small simple parts and Fords reluctance to issue any kind of recalls. Hell, the last straw was the simple shift-tower bolt sheering and falling into the transmission. A $4 BOLT!! I jacked up the front end, pushed it out of my garage to the curb and put it for sale that night.
I also had pretty poor luck with a Ford Probe that was my car for 85,000 miles before the Contour. So all these stupid little expensive issues 2 cars in a row kind of made me anti-Ford for awhile. I would never consider another Contour (no offense to this site). The platform is over 12 years old and there are just way too many better options out there now.

For cars that are marketed as "performance" (whether or not they truly are fast) they tend to get abused a lot.
Take like say Buick - they are not built any better or different than other GM cars but they tend to attract old farts. As we know, Grandpa Moses is not going to be taking his LeSabre out to the drag strip to call it "rice eater" and run the hell out of it (though most LeSabres are much faster than they look). No, it is his sunday driver car to go to church on Sundays or maybe the grocery.

In the impossible chance that CSVT were originally marketed to old folks, those things would be one of the better used cars out there now due to gentle handling of previous owners.

One thing you really have to look at with any used car of certain age is - who likely had it before? In the case of a SVT, it was likely some kid who would run it into the ground every time a Civic had the testicles to try to pass. Cars do not like to be driven hard, red lined, burn-outs, etc

Sometimes though - no amount of pampering will keep a car alive long.

Ive had a 99 mercury mystique automatic v6 and bought it with 40,000 miles back in 2002,i drove it rough close to redlined every day floored it on the freeway everyday, raced a 2 door escort that reved me out everytime i saw him in my neighborhood (i dont race or speed much anymore lol). but i was changing the oil every 5,000 miles, when i got rid of it at 150,000 miles it never gave me one problem, but maybe the next person that got it is feeling the pain now but that mercury was awsome and never gave me one problem....I had a 91 thunderbird supercoupe at 19 years old had it for 6 years took it to the drag strip, raced it on a daily basis, never changed the oil much, dogged on it hard core, smoked out inter sections and gas stations holding the brake pedal down and letting the tires spin till you couldnt see anything I would do this after numerous street races and people would throw trash at me and cups at my bird while i was doing it lol I was a major A-hole....Did a lot of corner drifting and the only problem that thunderbird supercharged gave me a was a crank position sensor, and at like 250,000 miles it started to act funny after i towed a car with it so i got rid of it for 500 bucks.....I never had to many problems with Fords untill a 98 EO CSVT i had in 2006 and a 1998 EO CSVT i just had now....in my mind i will never get another EO CSVT maybe a 99 or 2000 CSVT .......

Im actually going to pick up a 94 95ish Infiniti G20 Touring edition and daily drive it and keep the miles off my accord. Then do a little Turbo project with it eventually they have a Japan version turbo motor swap i can put in the G20......But i will always want another WELL treated Csvt i miss mine and kind of regret it already but i dont miss the little problems that keep happening right after i fix one thing it made me want to do a street fighter beating on it and just beat it up with a bat lol.....

I still have the two streaks scraped into the pavement from the wheels of my jack going from my garage all the way down my driveway which was the last time my SVT ever touched my property. So every time I look at my driveway I'm reminded of all the issues it caused me.

I see you got the grand prix....I always wanted a 97 grand prix gtp coupe back in the mid 2000s

lol, I wanted the same car. Wish I would have bought one. The 3800 is bulletproof! The GXP was my "compromise". My wife and I swap cars from time to time so it needed to be FWD and automatic for my wife to be comfortable driving in the Michigan winters. The GXP was an awesome choice. Its fast/fun as hell but also practical. The 5.3l V8 is awesome and still gets about 30mph hwy when it kicks down to 4 cylinders. Still wish I had a GTO or G8 though. My next car (third car) will be a Vette.

We had the '06 GT Grand Prix (supercharged sleeper), which I would have loved to run against the GXP V8 that you have. It would have been a great run to see them side by side. The interior of the Grand Prix of that generation are retarded-ly small for some reason. I'm only 5'10" and my head was just about touching the roof :nonono:. We sold it simply because it was too small inside for being a "full size" car :-/. Too bad because it was fun to drive .

Just keep in mind that parts for infiniti's are STUPID EXPENSIVE. My father inlaw has a G35 and his seat got stuck in recline (motor burnt out). It was over $1000 to replace.

Stock vs stock the GXP would walk it. But there is a large mod market for the supercharged engine with the V6 guys beating the drag times of the V8 guys from what I hear. There aren't many mods for the LS4 V8. But with that much restrained displacement small mods make large gains. The GXP is amazingly well loaded and hooked up, not many people realize it comes factory with Bilstein's and C5 Corvette brakes. I know what you are saying about the headroom. I'm 6'0" and am almost touching. Its mainly because of the sunroof. It lowers the headliner a couple inches.
