JBL GTO Amps?

I'm looking to build up a sound system for my protege. 6.5" components up front and probably some infinity 5x7's I got from the contour in the rears. I found a local guy selling a JBL GTO 75.4 II. Rated at 104w RMS x 4 at 4 ohms. That looks nearly perfect for amping all 4 doors with good power.

So I guess my question is are JBL amps any good? I am not looking for a high end amp, just something that will drive some good clean power to some nicer components.

I am hoping to find a head unit with higher volt pre-amps so i can keep the gain down on all the amps for sake of keeping them cool.

Interesting,

It looks like its 104w RMS / channel @4ohms ... at 14.4v?

Thought most systems were 12v?

True cars are 12V systems.
Typically manufacturers will give output ratings at 12.0V and 14.4V, I assume it's to represent the car in an off state, and the car in a running state. Typically you'll pay more attention to the 14.4v rating since you usually will have your car running when you play it/listen to it. IMO....

Throw a multimeter on your car's battery and check it at rest, then start up the car and see it jump up. It's one easy way to check if your car's charging system (alternator) is functioning properly.
