Im just curious because I know some of the s-types use a duratec 3.0. So my question is whether a 2003-2008 s-type 3.0 (240hp) have ever been swapped into a contour/cougar or if it is possible and what modifications would need to be made to run one. Just throwing this out there.

The jag uses VVT, and our cars don't support it. The main issue is cost, you would be better off getting a non-VVT as it makes the swap easier and more economical. Also there are plenty of 3L swaps out there putting out 200+ at the wheels. That would put you in the range of 240 at the crank.

:)

You might be able to get it running in "dumb" mode, but without the computer needed to read the cam positions and make the changes to the ignition timing and injector firing you'll just end up with a car that runs like crap if at all.

If you pinned the hydraulic VCT actuators and blocked off oil to them you might be able to use the engine normally, but again a lot of work to get an engine that might run as well as a Taurus/Sable/Escape/MPV/Mariner/Tribute engine does, and being a jaguar engine it will cost a lot more than these options and in the end won't produce any extra horse power.

ok, so trying to get this to work is not as easy as just tossing a v8 in ranger,it is extremely difficult.but if you hace the time and money, go for it.

Throwing a V-8 into a ranger or S10 is much easier than putting a 3.0L in a contour.

Especially if its not fuel injected.
