Finished installing the pre 98 console I purchased. And I must say its a huge improvement over the post 98 models. No more creaking and cracking. The new console its solidly built.

The console is Atlantis blue, I also have an A/B airbag cover and under dash kick panels which help the console match better. I'm planing to get a glove box to bring the color combo together. I'm planing to get new boots and a leather cover for the arm rests as well.

The empty cup holder holds my m3 player perfectly.

not too sure about your airbag cover idea. black cougar steering wheel and atlantis blue air bag cover? it'll look like a bruise

If you are looking for a bolt on ready pre98 MB center counsel, this is going to be as close as it gets. The atlantis blue doesn't look bad. Did I send all the parts to you?

I guess it will flow a little bit better with some more Atlantis Blue parts, but why not just paint the console and look factory?

At least cover up the armrest with a leather one from Redline Goods. That will blend the console a little bit more.

Big deal it's a slight offset color. The prairie tan's have what...3 shades of tan?

Seriously! Let me set one thing straight. The passenger air bag cover is Atlantis blue, not the drivers side. The drivers side has been painted black. It looks black to my eyes (Color blindness FTL) and to everyone else who sees it in person (Just as reassurance). Camera likes to make it look slightly bluish.

The vast majority, I needed some clips that the pre 98s came with for the kick panels. Pre 98s have 4, post 98 have 2. So I jacked some from my T red.

WeEeErRrRdD!

PT is so many shades of tan it is sick.... QC should have did a little more testing of pigments in their tan parts :blackeye:. The midnight blue interiors seem to match all the way around but some pictures of MB steering wheels look really blue and not as dark. Cameras make it worse looking.

NEZ - Just a little MB leather on that armrest and it would be good to go, but it doesn't look bad like that either.....

Yea I would find yourself a spare front door panel from a MB car and take the simulated leather off of it. If you iron it out flat you can cut out three pieces and glue it over the existing fabric on your armrest. Looks pretty dang good. I'll see if I can find the pics of what I did.

As for the rest of it... get some paint made up to match your MB interior and paint it up right. Don't just start replacing other parts to match up with it :nonono:

Here are pics of how mine turned out. The smudges you see in the pictures is where some glue got on the surface of the MB vinyl (not burning from an iron like people said in the post :nonono:) I have since cleaned them off with some goo be gone.

The thing is I'm trying to do something different. I want to to have a 2 tone interior, mostly MNB with some A/B highlights, the arm rest will be covered as I said previously. If I could have gone with a more vibrant color for the contrast I would have, but contours didn't have a vast array of interior colors.

The only thing I would paint however is the dark gray areas. I'd rather it be black, but even if I did paint it it wouldn't match 100%. Plus you'd be able to tell its been painted, and I cant stand that.

Well if your going to do a two tone... don't just replace random parts with the AB color. I would paint match the lower half of your doors, glove box, under cover of steering wheel and possibly the lower trim below the doors. That would be a true two tone.

Two tone is one half is one color the other half another color. What it isn't is some random parts from both halfs being one color or the other. Some examples are below.

Can you tell mines been painted? Because I can't. I hadn't painted the screw covers in those pictures so you can see the AB color on them still. But other then that its all 100% MB.

The last thing I was going to replace was the glove box to keep it symmetrical, since the under kick panel under the steering wheel is AB. Besides the difference is so tinny its hard to notice.

I'm going with the 2 tone so if anyone does notice the difference its looks stock, not completely random.

A complete 2 tone like the one you show wouldn't work, the dash doesn't have a seem from one side to the other. I could run the AB from the glove box to the door panel. Hmm...

PT is nuts, I got a pre 98 console w/o a rear cig door, I found some paint that matched my post 98 dash and painted a grey door. Slap it on, it doesnt m,atch. So Im thinking its ok for now till I find a real one.

Weeks past, Im at the yard. I dig under a seat and there one is. Great! Um uhh nope. It the exact same as the one painted that is a shade off. Go figure.

Weeks past, this weekend I go out. New car in the lot, find a PT door. Excited and buy it. I get in the car. Um uh no doesnt match.

I have the only console in dat color. dut duh da!

Anyways, leave the AB console alone and leave the MB alone. Except and appreciate.

Did you sew the arm rest? Looks good!

Sure it does. By installing the pre98 center console you gave it one. Keep the lower door panels, steering column lower cover, center console, glove box done... two tone as I had shown in the other interior pictures. I also explained this in my other post.
