Hey y'all - so the other night I noticed that my overhead light stayed on ...

So nothing to it I just flip the switch and problem solved

Till I park the car all weekend and go to work this morning to find my battery was dead ..

So I boost it and all is well again

When I left work this evening I noticed that my lights in the footwells were simply on.. And would not turn off

Pulling the #34 fuse will solve for my battery dying tonight .. But doesn't solve my issue (nor will it allow my wife to use the radio on a side note)

I checked all the doors .. Flicked the switch that turns a off the door chime .. And still the interior light wont go off

Thoughts / recommendations / suggestions ... Please

Check the dimming wheel (?) that you use to change the brightness of the instrument gauges. If you set it all the way "bright", it clicks and locks the lights on.

If this is the case, you arent the first to puzzle over this, and you wont be the last.

Just to be clear .. I feel like a huge douche right now

Your answer sir was right on the money ..

Never let your kids play around inside your car .. That's all I got

I had jump-started my car after leaving the lights on last winter. After that the interior lights were staying on. Found out later the timer module that controls the interior lights went bad. Same module controls delay wipers--didn't have them either. Wouldn't turn the lights off. Module is the big black module on the interior fuse panel. Plugged in new and the lights go off properly.

Newfie, seriously, if I had to guess, this has hit just about every contour owner at some point.

I would recommend replacing the overhead and footwell lights with LEDs. Easy-peasie and they wont drain your batteries. Plus, they are a lot brighter.
