Interior lights stuck on!

So I searched and found where people's interior lights won't come on, and it turned out to be a stuck door plunger/switch. But my light that comes on down by my feet (driver's side) will not turn off! I disconnected my battery until I figure this out, and will be going through my manual to see what fuses might be involved in this. But my dome light is acting funny too, when I set it to 12 sec, it won't turn off either. I can at least turn that one off though... the floor light is just on regardless of what I do. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

your going to smack yourself like i did myself if this is the problem. there is a dimmer light wheel/ switch to the left of your radio. it looks like an Oreo cookie. check to make sure that is not all the way to the left. if it is the lights will stay on. this got me like 3 times in a row once.

Is this a later year model Contour thing? On my '95 I am pretty sure that it does not have that feature, or else this would have happened to me because I like my dash lights having max brightness...

It happened to me too, and, once I figured out what it was, I replaced the bulbs with LEDs, so that, if it happened again, it wouldn't drain my battery for a year. The best improvement I have done, as you no longer have to worry about. Now I sleep well at night and my blood pressure went down 100 points.

Just as an addition: if it is NOT the dimmer switch on the dash, your CTU (Central Timing Unit) could be faulty.

There is a test procedure that will verify its functionality, if the dimmer proves not to be the case.

I am kicking myself, but with a giant grin on my face. I would've never thought to look at that as the culprit. Thanks!:D
