Installation meet

Oh yeah header gaskets, forgot to mention those...well worth $10-11 for the Fel-Pro set ordered a day in advance from...well, Advance haha. That's really cheap for peace of mind that you won't need to repeat all that work if the original gasket leaks. I was pleasantly surprised at how inexpensive they were and also how much more substantial they are than the OEMs (much thicker and less flimsy). I wouldn't bother with new manifold studs and nuts unless yours are extraordinarily rusty and/or damaged from removal, but I did replace all my exhaust and y-pipe flange nuts and bolts with ones from the hardware store because they probably will be pretty ugly, plus you can use generic hardware that fits.

In fact, now that I think about it, you will NEED to get at least one pair of nuts/bolts for IIRC the front header since the stock manifold has studs built into the flange whereas the MSDS header has holes for a through bolt. Sorry if you already thought about all this stuff, don't mean to state the obvious.

I was typing while you posted that...gahhh I've been wanting a CapCEG meet since I joined a year ago (wow...doesn't seem nearly that long) but I don't know if I could make next weekend either. Definitely couldn't do Saturday. Anyway whenever you decide I'll come if I can.

I'm good for Sunday or next weekend. It's up to you, like Ben said, gaskets (FelPro from Autozone or a similar place) are a must. The coating, that's up to you if you want to wait until next weekend to make sure you coat them. As for the studs and nuts, I just prefered to get all new ones as my old ones were very corroded. How many miles do you have on your current ones?

Have a good one guys.

I have other commitments this and next weekend. :o :blackeye:

dad and i are doing the Philly Show this sunday.

next sunday might be possible for me. to show up.

Date moved to next weekend

Date moved to next weekend

NOTE: Date chaged to next week

I am sorry to be a jackass for moving the date once again.
The weather forcast predicts a crappy snow shower Sunday with freezing rain possible. I am also waiting for gaskets and VHT header paint which are supposed to arrive early next week. I hope you guys wouldn't mind to push the install day one week later.

I am ok for either Saturday or Sunday. Please post your availability here, and we will pick a day.

Sorry guys!

Dad leaves on the 15th. gets to go to daytona 500. :(

I did the Philly show last weekend. I was kinda upset they didn't have the Challenger or the Genesis there, but it was still a cool show. The Challenger should be up there now since the dodge rep said it will get there on Wednesday. I have pictures in the North East forum

he has a garage. It's a tight squeeze but shouldn't be too bad. I just thought, if the car is dead, we may have to push it in and it's up hill to get it in too. I could push it in with my truck

This Sunday

This Sunday

Guys,

I think we can 'tentatively' set the coming Sunday morning.

Here is some clarification:
  1. The car is fully drivable. It has a brand new battery (after Big Jim pointed out a faulty battery could lead to all the symptons I am having, so I promptly got a new 100-month battery. Turned out that battery was not the cause) so I can drive it into the garage on Saturday without any problem.
  2. We have a two car garage. Normally it is for my wife's 06 Sienna (so the space is proved to be big enough) and another car. We will move those cars to the cul-de-sac so we have the entire space for use.
  3. I had the 3L swap and transmission performed by FastCougar slightly over 1 year ago. He knew I would like to put a pair of header later (could not locate one at the time of swap because it was almost not planned... see story here) so he put extra lithium grease (IIRC) on all the bolts/studs on the exhaust manifolds, as well as the y-pipe flange.
  4. I have space heaters too (in house grade, may not be garage grade) but feel free to bring some
  5. I received the VHT header paint from Car Shop Inc already. I ordered either Thursday or Friday. It's very fast shipping, and the price is (much) better than JEGS. I will put a couple coating starting tomorrow.
  6. I just opened the box of my MSDS header. One of the connector with outer threads seems crooked (I think that's the EGR). I will try to take some photo tomorrow.
  7. I haven't order the FelPro gaskets. I will go to AAP tomorrow and do so.
  8. If you guys like music please bring your CD. I can provide boombox (sorry, not MP3 compatible)
  9. I have some basic tools, but by no mean close to get the job done. Please also bring yours.
  10. I will have water, chips, soda, beer (any preference? -- we have 2 or 3 liquor stores with 1 mile so we should be good), and will order pizza in.
For any other question, please feel free to post here.

I am looking foward to a fun-filled Sunday. :)
