IMRC Cable

I was working with my air intake and noticed that my IMRC cable snapped off at the end. It isn't used on my 3L setup - it is just held open with a spring to keep the CELs at bay. I'm sure I'm going to get a CEL for the cable not being held open - but my question is - will it have any adverse affects to driving my car? Will it affect my MPG?

I plan on pulling the cover off and making some modifications to keep it open without running a cable across my engine bay...

Were you ever able to get your car tuned? If you did then that should have been deleted in the tune so you shouldn't need the IMRC box at all any more.

No - I was not. My PCM was not tuneable. I've got a PCM out of a 99 Returnless on it's way to me. After I get that, and some exhaust work done - I'm going to try and get it tuned again.

That is still odd that they couldn't tune your car. I wonder if the diablo software has issues with the 2000 year SVT ECU. I would think a SCT tuner would have been able to get it to work.

I dunno what was up - as soon as he plugged in the chip - it would not fire at all - no communication at all. He tried multiple chips and I even came back the next day with a PCM from a Taurus. We had trouble with PATS, and because of the no-job, I didn't have the extra funds to buy another key and get them setup with that PCM.

I'm going to talk to Casey and see if I can stop by there some time with that other PCM and see if we can get communication before setting up an appointment. I'm not rushing because I had the best baseline run by far - it was damn smooth. Going to get my car to breath better before getting an tune anywase...

So I take it the IMRC CEL will not have any advers affects? I dont know how long it has been broken, but I scored my highest MPG yet - 25 averaging 80MPH + rush hour traffic 2 times a day...

I have a 2000 with the XGT1 code and I have had my car tuned with an Xcal2... Do they deal with SCT at Hitech? Have them do it with that vs the diablo if they do. Otherwise I know DB Performance in Rogers does tuning with SCT if you insist on a dyno tune. Or Warmonger (what I use) on the boards does mail order tunes at a lower price.

Or if you're stuck on diablo + hitech then you should let me have your old pcm ;)

I'm going to get it tuned here because they have tuned 5 of these - there was a Dyno Tune day, that was when we figured out what was wrong. I dont know the code on my PCM, I've never looked. I've got a Taurus PCM all setup for an SVT custom tune, but I needed PATS to get it to work.
I havnt got anything against Warmonger, but having it tuned at a local shop allows me to have a warranty, a place I can get tweaks/chages done same-day, and a place that I can get future tunes added for cheap (FI/N2O)

Ok - well, hopefully the PCM I'm got in the mail has a different code on it.. Hopefully bewteen the 3PCM's I'll have 1 of them will work.

Kyle's computer code is also XGT1 which seems to be the most common for the returnless SVT's.

Which is what I have... SCT Xcal2 works perfect with it. I don't blame you for wanting a local shop to do it either. I was just giving you options in case something didn't work out ;)

I should get around to dynoing my car :P

Hmm.. well, I'll talk to Casey and see what he says... THanks for the input, maybe this is easier then I thought..

Looking at the PCM code list in the tuning section DAR3 does not look like a SVT PCM. It comes up as: 99 Contour, 99 Mystique and 99 Cougar. The SVT PCM should be different so it wouldn't be shared in the Mystique and Cougar.

Yeah - I'm not concerned about what it is from. Casey can copy the software from my PCM over what is on that PCM making it an SVT pcm. I just need somthing with the J-port enabled. It could be a diablo thing, or it could be a goofy PCM in my car. I just want to get my car tuned, toss my IMRC out, pump it fulla lead with my Baretta, and enjoy ~70 HP & TQ on the low end...
