hello,
I am thinking of upgrading my exhaust, with glasspacks, and wondering if anyone has gotten tickets for having glasspacks or other than stock ford exhausts here in illinois....

I got 7 or 8 with my Zetec Tour with header and custom exhaust....really depends on what area you're in!

I never got on in the year I had my 95 SE with a loud exhaust, nor in the 3L SVT I had. Both cars were pretty loud, but I never got a ticket, but I also didn't rev the engine up in residential areas (much) and always kept it tame around cops.

but the cops around here don't seem to care too much.

that is surprising, I have heard the opposite about the CL cops, but have heard cary is the worst. That is from my brother though, who drove a spraypainted flat black lincoln markVIII with tints and his friend with a white SS blazer. only tickets I have gotten about vehicle functionality (exhaust leaks, tail light imperfections, windshield cracks, all my old car) involve any city with "Barrington" in its name, namely South Barrington and Barrington Hills. Wien_Sean I have also heard that, as long as you keep it quiet in the neighborhoods they tend to leave you alone.

i had gotten a ticket a few years back for having a cherrybomb glass pak on my beretta. it was in Addison thou, i dont remember if its heard over 75ft or over 75db they can ticket u. that is an IL law, but mostly it really just depends on the cop if they want to be a jerk or not. i think it funny a car with a somewhat loud exhaust they will tickey you but u can hear a motorcycle miles & miles away & its ok. i know they say loud pipes save lives but whats the difference between cars & bikes its still an exhaust

It all depends where you drive... The upper class (read Rich) Suburban towns have Nazi cops, who enforce just about anything. No front plates, loud exhaust, and seatbelt violations are their favorite targets... That said, the exhaust on my SVT is a bit loud, but not anywhere near Mustang V8 levels... Total BS law if you ask me. We can't have loud exhausts on our cars, but Harleys can have open pipes and terrorize people at all times of the day and the law does not apply...

Bull••••

I know you're up north. Stay there! Down here, Springfield area, cops will be on you. Expecially if your young and out late at night.

Crystal Lake has been good to me but I agree with Cary, Fox River Grove, and Barrington all looking to hand out lame plate, tint, and exhaust tickets. Those towns are traps especially at night.

Speaking of loud exhaust, I forgot. Last year the kids and me were going around the block with the mini bike and Big foot goped. Yeah we were racing around the block but the police were call due to loud exhaust. He sad that a elderly couple called and said it was too loud.

Sounds like the town near me, Hometown. Just got a ticket the other day for no seatbelt.

That's your fault. Don't blame anyone other than yourself, and certainly not the cops of a particular town. All cops everywhere should give that ticket, and usually do.

Didn't blame anybody or say only particular towns give seatbelt tickets. It just so happened that I got that ticket in a town that is known to ticket for anything. What sucks for me is that I wear my seatbelt 99% of the time and this one time it just slipped my mind. Got nothing against seatbelts, but I still think it falls in the lame type of ticket category.

I got the cops called on me for my pocket bike in my neighborhood.

If your not speeding or being a otherwise nusence i don't think it's usually an issue. unless it's a massive fart can and is verry loud and annoying

I honestly don't know how anyone can get into a car without putting on their seatbelt. Even when I am just moving my car a couple inches or moving cars in a driveway, I still feel the need to put the seatbelt on.

that is all barrington cities. Lake in the hills as well is one of those "ticket nazi" towns. Lake in the hills stopped me once in my buick century because he thought I wasn't wearing a belt because it was one of the ones with the seat belt that comes out of the door and up to the anchor in the upper corner. He noticed that, appologized, sat and ran my license for quite some time, then eventually released me. Like I say, in the rich towns, it is really a matter of "to serve and collect"...

I agree with Sean. I have been putting on my seatbelt since the day I started driving. It's a habit...every time I get in and turn the key the seatbelt goes on.

just in a hurry, get distracted and before you know it, got pulled over. this is literally my first ticket in 10 years.
