I've been noticing something happening more and more on this site. Someone will ask a question and get slamed for asking. Now I know that some people think they are "experts" at all things Contour. But if you are, and you come to this site, try to HELP people. I to have seen (and asked for that matter) some stupid questions. The point is that sometimes you just don't know. You don't know what to ask or how to ask or were to look or what to look for and so on. So don't go and slam or make fun of people because they don't understand something. That's the point of this site. A place were you can come and ask questions. So as they say, if you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything.

This has always been a reoccurring thing on here and always will be. Sometimes it is bc people are simply jerks but most of the time it is because of miscommunication (which is far too easy when all nonverbal comm is left out such as on an online posting). This is one of the reasons for my post count to not have been higher than it currently is and yet even so I have been caught up in threads like this before. It is a shame but don't worry too much, nobody is going to get banned for being less knowledgeable than some think they should be and it's not like anyone outside of Michigan regularly sees most other members on here anyways. Soak up what you can and leave the rest to the wind.

No, that isn't the point of this site. The point of the site is to be a gathering place for contour (past and present and future) to gather to discuss things and to disseminate contour-related information. The reason people get bent out of shape, is because the same questions get asked over and over and over again. New users don't have a "right" to have every little question answered at thier whim, especially when the question has been asked and answered 100 times before. The part that bothers the "old timers" is the new users that make ZERO effort at finding thier own answers in the vast knowledge base that CEG has accumulated over the years. And 99% of the time, it just plain isn't because the newbie can't figure out the best way to search for it (how hard is it to type "best exhaust" into the search box????). I'm sick and tired of people being "helpless" and needing everything handed to them; the information is there, just get off your butt and take a minute to look for it.

To the newbies, before you ask a question, take 5 minutes and dig through the search, both here and on the old forums; if that doesn't answer your question, then go ahead and make a post, and let us know what search terms you used, and then someone will be glad to help out, and maybe even point out how to search better next time.

So as they say, if you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything.

Why? so we can all hug and sing songs around the campfire?

I agree. Most of the time their answers are in the "Read Me First before Posting" thread.

me 4 .... I am getting tired of answering A/C recharging questions once a week .... come on and look around alittle and if there are still question I will answer them ...

I wholeheartedly endorse slapping silly the people who don't try to search for info, but that said, the four letter minimum requirement in the search words is REALLY annoying. I can't tell you how many things I've tried to search for and not been able to....for example my latest, OMP....

Yeah, that is an unfortunate limitation; the problem is when someone searches for a common 3 or 4 letter combination; it way overtaxes the server, and ends up returning virtually every post, ever.
