I have broke like ten of my axles mostly in the drivers side cv joints, definitely interested. Although they would have to come with a lifetime guarantee like my napa axles.
Good to know. At least if anything else we could start a GB on the DSS stage 2 axles. Maybe at that point I would through in my traction bar setup as well for a complete setup
I'm sure if you had enough interest Frank at DSS would build you about whatever you'd want... they're about an hour away from me and I've been to the shop on several different occasions and seen what all they have on hand. They definitely have some pretty trick parts to make a really strong set of halfshafts. Keep in mind though the more stress they can take generally the more it costs to make... 800 bucks for axles though is pretty reasonable compared to what they cost for my Cobra. The same set I have in my Cobra currently (Level 5 outer/bar upgrade with Porsche 930 chromoly inners) is about twice as much for the Level 2 Contour axles.
Can we please stop talking about these stage 2 axles??? These break as well. I thot this thread was about "unbreakable" ones. Why does it keep coming back to the DSS's? Did u give up on RCV?
I agree, if the DSS axles break and dont have a warranty then why spend $800 on them when I can spend $140 on axles from napa that will be replaced if they break for free. Although I would LOVE to be able to launch my car without having to worry about axles, soo if I had to spend $1400 on axles that will not break and have a warranty I am all in.
Yes I agree, which is why I started this thread. Looks like there is a new guy working at RCV and I left a voice message with him. Hopefully I get a phone call back. So the big question is....
Can I tell them that we can get 10 people together to buy these?? Which I think would make it there while.
I talked to someone on the phone that actually was willing to work with me. I sent him some pictures of Ryan's failed DSS stage II CV shafts and I will be mailing them my CV shafts later this week. As for pricing he is not sure as it depends on whether they have the shaft end designed already. His first thought would be to change the joint out for Porsche 930 design (like Kilroy mentioned above), which they have had great success with in the past. However he said to expect somewhere between $1200-$2000 for the set. However that is a price I'm willing to pay to get a shaft that works. Now that would not be a GB price though. I'd imagine we could lower that down quite a bit if we can commit 5-10 people. I'll post more when I hear back from them, which will probably be tomorrow.
