Alright Beans pointed me in the direction of this company that makes custom axles and CV shafts. The best part... their slogan... "Simply Unbreakable". So I've got an inquiry in to them to see what it would take and how much it would cost to have sets of CV shafts made for our cars. I'm willing to put my car down for a month or so if it means I'll have "Simply Unbreakable" CV shafts to go with my turbo kit. So if they stand behind their slogan how many of you are interested?

RCV Performance

I'm still investigating everything so bare with me here as this is truly just an interest check. I'm a bit concerned up front because, "RCV Performance recommends the Drive Shaft Shop". So I'm going to see what all they have to say and I'll update everyone when I hear back.

In the meantime please add your name to the list if you are interested. Keep in mind these shafts will probably be around $580-$800, if you don't have the money in hand and ready, don't waste my time and everyone else's, keep your name off the list. Thank you.

Very excited to see how these hold up.

My first intention when i was building up my SVT was to have them make half shafts for it, but my pockets where not that deep. Same problem still exists :( so unfortunately will have to pass, but good luck with the GB

Im down depending on costs. I fear drive shaft shop like I fear spec clutches.... too bad I have a spec stage 3+ in my turbo car right now :(

I did some reading on their site and it says MOST are guaranteed against breakage, might wanna clear it up with them.

our break I believe because they neck down before the splines. that whole part would have to be strengthened to make a better design .... if thats the cause for failure.

do they break near the differential splines or the hub splines, or both?

I've sent RCV emails to their external website and contacted their techs on a major 4x4 website. These folks make cv joints for Dana 44 and Dana 60 axles and people cannot break them. I am going to be purchasing CV axles for my D60 through them - going to cost around $2K.

I'm interested in this - if the price stays around the $650-700 mark I'll put money down ONLY if these are 100% guaranteed.

Well I heard back from DSS on another email I sent them... Just thought some people might be interested in what they had to say:

Hi
we can make a level 2 400hp axle (800.00 a pair) and a level 3 600hp axle/hub system (1350.00)

This is the first I've ever heard of an axle/hub system coming from them. It's a bit spendy, but the hub may be the weak spot in our system and if this replaces it...

Anyway I'm still waiting to hear back from RCV.

thats already what they have on the market. ryan had the stage II's. i dont believe anyone on here has a stage III tho. i'd like to know what the difference between both stages are.

Yeah, but most Dana's are pretty tough to begin with, so it's no surprise they can do that.

It may be A weak spot, but as others have mentioned they break in other areas too. I don't think it's practical to beef up the hub/splines when it's still going to be the same size going into the diff. I'd rather have them break out at the hub where it's easier to work on.

So really I don't see the advantage of stage 3 over stage 2 if the splines going into the diff are the same. Just my opinion.

Remember Prodigy? He had their stage3+hub setup. I thought he sold them to someone here when his project failed (didn't complete). I also remember him saying that DSS had the capability to put larger splines on the Quaifes too.

Regardless, if this other company can guarantee their product against breakage... and they are aware that we even have problems with DSS stage2 axles, then I'm interested too.

Hi
on the early design we did have a few spline failures, the material has been chanced and the het treat different (this was several years ago) as for the level 3 the hubs is exactly the same but with a larger spline in in, sorry no ABS on the level 3 kit

So stage 3 axles/hubs do not maintain ABS, but all OEM components are maintained with the use of the new hub. I also replied to this email indicating there had been a recent failure and gave him Ryan's pics..

In any case I am STILL waiting on RCV.
