Hey, I konw that this topic was discussed many times but i never got a clear answer for my question. Here it is I have a 99 CSVT and my 3rd gear griends, but that was something i could live with. Now my difirential is going bad, when I make sharp left turn it sunds and fells like .... So I took Axle off and my tranny locks when i rotate one side. I go to school and i been in this country only for 4 years so far, so i don't have load of money. I have a 4 cilender transmission from 97 contour. Is it possible to take my tranny out and switch the inside parts with the ones from 4 cilinder? what other parts should I buy to make it perfect, like bearings, and etc. I was looking at used trannys aroun but it's really hard to fined one that is kind of fresh and worth it.

Thank you, Nikolay

the 97 is rod shift and mounts to the zetec...and your car is cable shift and mounts to a v6...never going to work...$895 at BAT for a new trans...or check the classifieds...

95s were the only rod shifted ones IIRC
And he's not asking if it'll bolt up, he's asking if he can switch the internal parts.

95-97 and possibly some early 98s were all rod shift.

i dont see a problem with switching the internals. as far as i know they were all the same except the final drive. the only difference between the trannies is the bellhousing.
