I am done. Once and for all. I have a '97 Contour 2.0 with 160,000. I have wrenched on, swore at, and toiled over that thing the last 5 years just in the vane hope of keeping it going. It's dead. Engine and constant constant constant transmission issues have caused me to ends it's pathetic life once and for all. I rue the day I bought that thing. 160K is rediculous. I have had numerous other vehicles that have made it well over 200K with basic maintenance. I picked up an '006 Grand Prix today.
Thank God and GM for the 3800. See ya.

 
did i mention it always got crummy gas mileage? I light little car with a stinkin 4cyl and it would barely hit 30. The last Impala I had with a 3800 hit 33 wihtout trying. sad
 
lemme guess the trans was an auto? and your mpg should be 24-28 in a z-tech. nice that you picked-up a newer car but there is no compaison to an 11 year old car on maintainence. wait 9 years and then compair, then tell me gm is great.

Every single Contour owner goes through this. I'm so glad you made it out and got a GM. I've never met an unsatisfied GM owner in my life.
 
Is this going to be as funny as the thread about the Ex-Contour owner who wants to mod his newly acquired late-model Lumina with an automatic transmission?

Joined this site, just to be able to post how much you disliked the car?... Nevermind your new GM car. You'll need good luck with life generally.
 
damn that pesky regular maintenance! Pen two is right. This guy is just like the other guy. Im surprised he didnt complain about having to replace the windshield wipers. :laugh:

And I agree. V6 MTX FTW! Actually MTX anything for the win. Stay away from the ATX.

Dont even talk about GM not having problems. Who has the highest quality right now anyways? Toyota? Nope...Ford.
 
and to the OP, fwiw which I'm sure is nothing to you, my last fill-up returned 31 mpg. From an SVT Duratec. 80mph average. I don't consider that bad.

Actually i just had to change my front and back breaks and the ball joint.
 
Ok really why do people need to make a post about how they don't like the car and how they are leaving? I mean do any of us that still like our contiques really care? NO!

TO ALL THE PEOPLE THAT ARE LEAVING THE SITE - JUST LEAVE!!!

We do not care to hear you cry baby bullcrap. Oh and by the way, my 95 Zetec consistently got me 30 MPG until I moved to the city. Now its more like 27MPG but I got maintenance issues dragging that down.
