How can I hook up my iPod to Alpine head unit?

Starjammir and I pulled out my Alpine CDA-9847 head unit from 2004-2005 last night so that I could hook up a cable to the AUX input to connect to my iPod. Of course, I figured it would just be a simple thing like plugging a mini RCA jack into a mini RCA plug, but I should have known better with Alpine. Instead of having an RCA jack, it has a multiplug in the back for connecting with satellite radio, iPod control, and CD changer modules, etc.

So, now my question is what I can use to have an auxilary input with an RCA mini jack? I don't care about being able to control the iPod with the headunit at all, so I'd like for forgo spending $100 on the KCA-420i iPod controller box. I found the KCE-236B cable (http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/product_acc.php?model=KCE-236B) that appears to be what I want, but it says that it is for the newer 2008 Full Speed units, which mine is not. I've also found things like this- http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_10054_iPod+to+Alpine+AI-NET+Adapter.html which are kind of half functional hack jobs by the look of it, and I'd like to avoid them if possible. So, is there any other connector I can use to avoid replacing the head unit or buying the iPod control module?

Do yourself a favor and get one with the dock connector rather than the mini plug. You'll appreciate the line out signal versus using the distorted signal you'll get from the headphone output thats already been amplified.

I agree with CSVT_2004. I have the same head unit and the same AI-net cable he describes running into an rca to mini to my Shuffle and it works perfectly. It just wont read the text data from the IPOD.
