Just wondering if anybody knew what Temp buld it takes to get a green tint, like the jags run on the le-mans race cars ? i say temp, as in 4300k is white, 6000k is light blue, etc.... anybody know ? I'd like to get a kit for my Saab but if possible get green tinted/colored HID bulbs

here's a picture of green HID's for refference:

Here's some 6000k HID bulbs for sale that say they're green. but i know 6000k is blueish (because that's what i have on my SVT) are they just colored 6000k bulbs you think ?

Yeah, you're looking for a few kelvin past gay. Ebay should have what you need.

They'd be far beyond usable at night. Good for show purposes only. Be aware the picture from the ad is a standard 4300k light pattern, then they tint the picture green.

That's a set of green HIDs... although according to their thing, 3000k covers yellow, green, and pink lights. The color temperature isn't something that can be changed like that though...

It was just an idea, i wouldn't want my nearly as green as those pictured, just a tint of green would look cool IMO.

I can't see your point saying they "probably" won't put out good light, when many cars mainly the jag's in the 24 hour lemans races use them...

It's fairly well known that the most usable light comes at 4300K -- funny, the manufacturers use that as their standard.

And what's your source for the infor on the green HIDs at LeMans? I'd like to see a picture of this.

BTW, Porsche uses yellow lights. So did Lambo:

besides the fact that it just screams rice, i wouldn't do it.. i can't see that being beneficial at all.

Word on the yellow:

Not an advocate but here is some answers.

I have 3000k HID's for my fogs. Once warmed up are ION yellow. Basically its a 4300k bulb with a yellow coating.

When you first turn them on they are green and then shift to yellow. The reason for this is b/c the HID's are very blue when first ignited...so...yellow coating + blue warmup = green.

I think what could work is a very high K rated HID bulb like 9000k and have the yellow coating on it. Or a 4300k bulb with some sort of green coating (never seen before).

I agree though green would look pretty lame. Stock 4300k-5000k and 3000k is

Green lights can't be 30,000K. The higher the degrees K, the more purple it would be. 30,000K would be dark, dark purple. Far beyond the usable range. Hell, 9000K is pretty much useless.
