help with brake calipers

i've searched for a "how to" on brake caliper removal/paint/install but i don't see one.
i've never really been a "brake" person so i don't have a clue on how to remove my calipers so I can paint them.
its a pride thing now!
i think i want to tackle this on my own, but someone please advise on:

1. how to remove. (any clamping?)
2. what part of the caliper should be painted.
3. reinstallation.
it would be highly appreciated if someone would offer guidance with pictures.

I just read this last night. Its in the how-tos on the main page, look under replacing brake pads, it gives detailed steps.
Let me know how you go as I am doing this in about 2 weeks, I just ordered all the parts.

Removal: Remove the spring clip, take out the 2 slider pins (torx bolts on back of caliper, I think T-45). Wiggle the caliper off and support it... you can paint it on the car, just use some newspaper and aluminum foil to protect from overspray. If you need to take the caliper off, clamp off the hose, and unscrew it from the caliper.

Install: Remember to re-lube all parts needing it. Compress the piston with a c-clamp. Snap the inner pad back into place, and put the outer pad back against the rotor. Put the slider pins back in and screw them on. Put the spring clamp back on. If you removed the caliper, put the hose back on and bleed the system. Bleeder screws are 9mm.

I think i will leave them on the car and spray them. that seems a bit easier.
what part of the caliper should NOT be sprayed? in other words, what part of the caliper should be "aluminum foiled"

Just paint the whole thing. Go wild, paint the caliper, rotor, paint the lip of the rotor that rusts. Once you brake, all the paint on the rotor will disappear leaving you with a professional looking caliper paint job. Wa LA!
 
I don't recommend painting the whole rotor. All that paint will form a film on your pads and cause problems. A little is ok, but not a whole bunch.

Don't paint over the track where the outer pad slides on the caliper. You can always paint the whole thing and sand away the paint on that part though. Or just add some new lube once the paint is done drying.
