HELP! Vac line source

Hi guys,

Well, in attempting to identify/correct my high idle issue this weekend, I ended up with 2 broken vac lines!

I was pulling the throttlebody and the IAC off to clean and inspect them.

When I was taking the IAC off, I pulled the vac line from the top of the EGR valve and it snapped in half! The other ine that broke in similar fashion was the line that goes from the brake booster to the intake manifold.

That line snapped right at what i believe is a check valve. I guess those hardline get pretty brittle at single digit temps like this weekend!!!

Anyone know if these are available in the aftermarket? Is this dealer only??

Its a 95 Mystique 2.5 manual.

Thanks All!

go to heavy duty auto supply store and get the smallest black rubber like vacuum line you can get, it is very tiny. use pieces of that to bridge the broken hard plastic line; the plastic line slips right into it

A cleaner repair is to get real emission tubing in the correct size at any majur parts store and pull the old piece out of the rubber end and replace the whole piece. You may have to use needle nose pliers to pull the old piece out but you can get it out.

VAC hose lines

VAC hose lines

I recently suffered from a similar situation after replacing a heated O2 sensor. The colored VAC hose lines [red, green, white] become as brittle as pretzel sticks once there is some age on them. You can easily, even unknowingly, snap and fracture these lines, if you are working around them. NAPA carries black VAC hose in stock, AutoZone and Advance didn't, that will fit over the broken lines. But a trip to the local Pull-A-Part is a better bet. I cherry-picked a handful of lines, connectors, etc from there that were identical to my broken lines and just swapped them out. You will find the newer lines are much more supple than the old ones on your car. They are dirt cheap too.
