Help! Sunroof Motor Took A Crap

OK so I went to open my sunroof today, and it made a horrible grinding noise. I thought ot myself Oh Sh*t, so I quick try to close it. Well the damage was done, and it wont make any noise, and it is stuck open!!:mad: :mad:

It is supposed to rain today and the rest of the week. It is only open about 2-3" but I NEED to get it closed, does anyone know how to close it? or how much a new motor is?

I will search for a HOW to article, but if anyone has the link to it can you please post it? I am going into panic mode!!!

remove the plastic trim cover and you should see a stop on the gearbox where you should be able to use an allen wrench or something of the like to manually move the sunroof

I think this can be done but I am not 100% on it

What is the trim cover? the plastic cover that houses the sunroof motor?

you got it, pull the overhead light first then remove the two screws located near the windshield then slide back to remove. also be careful as the cover can be fragile at the mounting screws

Cool thanks, I checked it is not supposed to rain until tonight, so I will do this when I get home from work. Will let you know how it goes.

CRAP! the biggest one I have at work is a T-20. Looks like I might be making a Trip at Lowe's. Well my main concern at the moment is just getting the damn thing closed. Thanks for the info
 
i have two gears here that are brand new... i thought i needed one, but i didn't... also, try pulling it shut while you hold the switch in the close position, thats what i ahve to do to get mine to close!

I already tried that trust me it did not work. Ok I will let you know if I need one.

thanks, I already knew what it looked like. Printed off the "how to" change the gear article. But randomly my sunroof closed just now when I went to my car.:shrug: I know it is on the fritz though, so I have to fix it soon.
 
I have one i posted how much i want for it in your EGL thread. $100 less than ford wants for a new one
