Help an old gal out, Please???

just an observation. that duct tape conducts electricity, i would take it off and rewrap it with super 66+ electrical tape and do the same on all of the harness connected wires. dub

I wasn't unable to get anybody to help me with my car today as my friend James is now working at the tranny shop. My son came home about 7pm and he changed the duct tape to electrical tape. The car still won't start. I locked the front door and tested the key and it did open the lock though. I don't know if it had to do with the tape change, new battery, or just dumb luck, but at least the key is working now :-)

sinc you were problem free prior to the trans work you may have a good argument for all of trouble you've had. try to get the labor free and wholesale pricing on any parts needed. earlier this year aamco installed a mtx in my svt and put decron III in it. twelve hundred miles later the diff grenaded because that was botched on the install. that granted me the ability to have them closed. they sold the store and now someone else is doing business. i used the money to get a hms trans!

Well my son tested the megafuse this evening. It seems to be good. I guess the next thing to test is the alternator? How do we test that? Can it be tested if the car won't start?

Try recharging the battery with a recharger first, give it a good charge. See if it starts, hope it does, and then see if the voltage at the battery terminals is 13.8-14.4 volts with engine running. If it is about 12.6 or less, alternator is non-functional.

Just a thought, since you've experienced these driveability problems post tranny rebuild, you might want to check for shorting/pinched wires somewhere near the tranny. If it was replaced with haste, a wire or 2 could easily get pinched. Or if it wan't routed right, it may have worn through over time and is now shorting out. It really sounds like a grounding issue to me, a major somewhere close to the battery. Look for pinched or severed wires in the tranny area. Just my 2 cents.
